The family and i are taking a trip to Boston for the 1st time on Thursday, returning Sunday and I was looking for some information on some interesting things to do. We're staying downtown and just looking for things to do in that area...
Thought there might be some board members who have visited Boston or even live in the area.
Any information would be appreciated!
THANKS!

You can climb a lot of stairs and pay too much for cigarettes... oh, wait, you live in NY, you already pay too much for cigarettes. Skip Cheers, it sucks. Hit the House of Blues instead. Take a duck (landing craft from WWII) tour. See a bunch of patriots' graves. See the Paul Revere church. Say "hi" to Scott and the cabbie who's cab i puked out of at 40 mph.
Sorry, I'll sit down now.

Duck Tour - Beware, they're
fun, but be prepared to
freeze your ass off. (It
drives into the water... and
the only covering on the
vehicle is clear plastic.)
Check out Newberry St. -
Lots of cool little shops and
clothing stores, if you care
about that stuff. Maybe take
the kids to Condom World.
The Prudential Center -
Basically a little better than
your everyday American
mall. Cool place if you
wanna buy shit and stay
warm.
Quncy Market - Lots of great
restaurants. Eat there.
Or you can do what
TheGame said and just go
get hammered with a
punch of drunken Irishmen.
That never gets old.
Also, USE the subway. It's
easy, and it's only a BUCK.
Enjoy your time here. It's a
cool little town with enough
to keep you busy. But I'm
just a spoiled New Yorker,
so I think of it as a
neighborhood rather than a
city. I've been here 2
months and I wanna go
home... badly. NYC... I'm
coming... soon enough... I'll
be back... ::starts crying::

The newest Navy destroyer USS Preble (DDG-88) is being commissioned in Boston on Saturday at 1000. I'm not sure if it's open to the public but you may be able to see that as well as USS Constitution.
Check out Faneuil Hall if you can.

Theres a name that vanished into obscurity after the fall of the Lemonhead's mid-ninety's popularity,
I advise you to check out the New England Aquarium. The penguins and otters are super cute! Check out an IMAX flick also. R.I.P. Mrs. Pepin.
I also believe theres a pretty bitchin science center there if you want to keep the kids entertained.
Finally I suggest you eat like its going out of style. I recommend going to Quincy Market and get some of that chowdah that comes in the bread bowl. Its hella tasty. Also at Fanueil (i cant spell) Hall there is an awesome toystore there to check out. I can't remember what its called but you cant miss it.

There's a really fun saloon called Dick's Last Stand - tasty, greasy food; cold beers and loud music. I found it accidently while on a business trip up there last year. Highly recommended.

There's a really fun saloon called Dick's Last Stand - tasty, greasy food: cold beers and loud music. I think the name is Dick's Last Resort, but yeah that place is awesome, I had so much fun when I went there.

Also, go to the North End if you get a chance. It's the Little Italy section of Boston. There are some really good Italian restaurants, and there's a bakery called Mike's that is world famous and always packed with people no matter what time you go there. Walk around the North End and you'll see at least 7 out of 10 people carrying Mike's Bakery pastry boxes.

If you're referring to "The
Magic Hat", they
unfortunately closed down
in late September, so it's
just an emptied out store
now.

Nope it wasn't the Magic Hat. We were just there a month ago. It was a little magic shop in Faneuil Hall. I forgot the name.

Just wanted to let you know we had a Great time in Boston and now realize that you need a good week to see most of it...
It really takes you back to the root or birth of the United States and fills you with the spirit of Patriotism...
I was "laid up" for a good 16 hours with some food poisoning(1st time), after our visit to Salem, which was also very interesting and a nice learning experience...
Back in Boston we took the Trolley Tour across town, had dinner on Hanover St in the Little Italy section, took the Harbor tour, Quincy Market and Faniel(sp?) Hall, and the wife got her shopping in with the girls while i was getting a "stomach workout"...
Man! i was sick on Saturday and my stomach is still very sore, i feel it when i laugh or cough...
Thanks again for the suggestions...
