I ALWAYS play the computer team in sports games on VERY EASY, or whatever is the easiest setting. IT'S SO MUCH FUN to pretend I'm good at something!
For example, with Madden 92' for the Sega on HARD, I was beaten all the time. But on Easy, I beat The Saints 137 to Nothing!
The most recent example for me would be Baseball Advanced for the Gameboy Advanced. I set it on Rookie, and now I have a perfect record for the season, and every player on the Yankees is batting AT LEAST .600 with over 200 RBI's. All my pitchers ERA's are well under 1.00, and have never lost, as I said earlier.
So what of it?

In Madden 2003 I set my players to peform very well (a modified version of the NY jets called the NY Dragons with Chad as QB) and i love to rountinely thrash the team i play in the super bowl.
But sometimes i like excitement. I remember a final drive by Pennington ending up with a game winning catch by Lawverenous Coles. (sp) I put that on a higher mode.
But no matter how easy you set up your team, its very hard to beat the Madden Millienum team...even with my heavily modfied team.

I'm 12-0 in NHL 2003 on difficult. The only sports game I'd never put on the highest level is Madden, no fucking way can I compete with All Madden.

I played an NFL Gameday 2002 season on Playstation lately out of boredom. It's amazing how quickly the stats and scores pile up with only 5 minute quarters.

i like challenges better, but sometimes if im in a real bad mood i just need the satisfaction of beating the hell out of something, like in NCAA 2003, ill play as Miami against Division 1 AA west or something like that..

I remember when i had sega i had NHL 94 i loved that game, and i put it on easy so i did the same shot every game like 20 times. They even played that awesome music after i scored.

I went 15-1 in Madden on All-Pro skill level with the Dallas Cowboys. Sports games are real easy if you make the right trades and drafts.
The only time I ever put my sports games on easy is when I want to earn those extra point things(like in Madden 2002 you get Madden cards that boost players perfomances.)

The thing i hate about a lot of sports games are you put it on Easy and whip ass and on hard you get your ass beat. After a while its not any fun killing the computer.

Absolutly not...I play everythingon the hard levels. Therefore your skills get honed after a few tries...you learn strengths/weaknesses of certain players. Especially in NHL 2002 where players actually develop/decrease over time and ice time...

I keep it on the most difficult level within reason. In order to get any kind of satisfaction the game must be competitive.

For NHL'99 I always played on beginner and I'd always lay someone like Team England or Team Japan. That Japenese Goalie Maramoutchi IS NO MATCH FOR THE CAPITALS OFFENSE!
