View Full Version : The 9/11 Audio Tapes are Due to Be Released

I am not behind this decision. I know that I will not be able to turn off my TV and not listen but that can be likened to the fact that most people can't take their eyes off of a highway accident.
I know I will listen. The sad thing is, why the frig do I want to? These tapes capture the moment when those firemen walked into the tenth level of hell and saw the shear carnage of the day like nobody else.
I question that decision to release the tapes. I think this may be going too far. I want to remember the heroes without hearing the mantra of their screams in my brain.
Once again, the hunt for the terrorists must drive on - for the souls of the lost.

One word come to mind with these tapes. Ratings. Thats all that they want, and theres a sweeps week coming up too i believe, so more proof to my point. Hearing the firement talk about it is enough, i dont need to hear audio of people dying to believe they are heroes. Although like a car crash, you dont want to stare at it, but you just have to for some odd reason.

There's absolutely no need for this to be done. Awful.

I'm confused, what tapes are we talking about here? Tapes on planes or tapes in the towers?
IT'S TIME TO PLAY THE GAME-AHHH!

I've heard the police tapes. And I continue to hear them in my head, sleeping and awake. I havent heard that they were releasing anything like this, but if its true I think it's in very bad taste.

I thought it might be the tapes of the people who were calling 911 from inside of the towers. Either way, it's still unecessary.

Fucking horrible. I can't
even describe how
disgusting it is the lengths
networks would go for
ratings. This is the
ultimate.

I go back and forth on the issue.
I am not sure that the full reality of the situation has even sunk into a lot of people - especially those not living in N.Y.
I feel the families of victims should have the ultimate say on this.
There are somethings that I have seen on t.v. that are very personal to the people involved, and to use it as a way of attracting viewers is deplorable. One example, was years ago, I remember witnessing on t.v. a child in Turkey who was searching for his mother in the rubble of an earthquake. The cameras actually filmed the moment they found her dead and filmed the child crying hysterically when he was told. There are things in people's lives that should be considered personal and not filmed for entertainment. I felt horrible for even watching it.

There's absolutely no reason why those tapes should be released for the whole world to hear. The only people who should get to hear it are the families who lost loved ones, if they so choose. I love this country, but this is one of the things I can't stand about it. EVERYTHING has to be a form of entertainment, even the sounds of people dying. Real life tragedies should not be dissected just to entertain people.

There is no reason for the tapes to be released, the media is going to use this for ratings and money. The survuvors and friends and families of the victims are just going to be reliving this event and the pain.

Ahh the many reasons i rarely watch T.V. Because it sucks, and this just proves excatly how much it does suck. I watch 3 shows on tv, the daily show, trading spaces, and junkyard wars.

This is the first I've heard of this, and honestly, I'm not surprised. The media has degenerated into a pack of fear mongering, scandal mongering, celebrity worshiping jackals. They are rapidly approaching lawyers as the lowest form of humanity. The only way to curtail this downward spiral is not to watch. Boycott the telecasts and their sponsors.

I think it's disgusting. How cruel to put the families, friends and co workers through this. I don't know which idea upsets me more- that this is parading the torment and death of heroes to get ratings or that this is an attempt to anger and rally a nation preparing to go to war. Either way it's awful and what's worse is I bet it will get huge ratings. I understand that for people in other parts of the country it may be difficult for them to grasp the full impact of what went on in NY, DC and PA that day, but I don't think listening to the actual taped suffering of others is a way to go about it. For God's sake, if I tell someone about my gall bladder operation, I don't expect them to stick a knife in their guts so they can understand how it felt. Maybe people should just be glad they if they don't know how it felt and thank God it wasn't their city in flames or their loved ones lost forever. This is beyond reality tv. If you need reality, shut off the tv and go the F outside. I just hope when it comes on I have the strenghth to turn it off myself.
