FANS BAND TOGETHER TO KEEP RON AND FEZ IN NEW YORK CITY
On Friday, November 22 from NOON to 2pm, a plane with a banner reading KEEP RON&FEZ IN NYC WWW.RONFEZ.NET &102.7FM 7-11PM will be flying over the Hudson River from the George Washington Bridge to Wall Street. It will continue on to the Brooklyn Bridge where it will turn around and fly back up the Hudson River. Fans of THE RON AND FEZ SHOW (7-11pm on 102.7 WNEW-FM) and members of RonFez.net are organizing and donating their own money to keep their favorite radio show in New York City for this venture. WNEW-FM is currently undergoing a format change and there is a possibility that THE RON AND FEZ SHOW will no longer be in New York City.
Listeners of THE RON AND FEZ SHOW are currently flooding the offices of Infinity Broadcasting, WNEW's parent company, with letters and postcards, hoping to convince the company to keep the show in New York City. Gary Hansen, a loyal fan of the show, states "RON AND FEZ are among the few shows that really connect to listeners. They've been moved all over the schedule and people still find them. So much of commercial radio is wasteland, we can't lose them." Carter ***********, owner of RonFez.net, says: "On a radio dial where every station sounds the same and most radio personalities are devoid of actual personality, RON AND FEZ are at one moment clever and witty, the next moment deep and profound, and always firmly clutching the pulse of American pop culture." According to Bobby **********, an Administrator on RonFez.net, "Ron Bennington and Fez Whatley are quickly becoming tri-state night-time institution and to drop them in favor of another lite-music station would be like dropping David Letterman in order to air late-night infomercials."
WEATHER PERMITTING. If the weather is inclement, the flight will be postponed until Monday the 25th from 12pm to 2pm.

Looks good. Small detail I would add FM with the 102.7 and call letters, just to avoid any possible confusion.

One minor nit to pick. Last line of the first paragraph currently reads

One more minor thing, in the first paragraph you write - the Ron and Fez show. In the second paragraph - The Ron and Fez Show. You need to stay consistent, pick one way.

Don't mention another paper's
article or reporter. Cut the whole
part about "David Hinckley's
Radio Dial and Gary's quote."
Get new quotes from Heckler,
Melissa, or Sheeplover or other
heads of the movement. Maybe
jeff or carter as reps of the board.
If you leave in the Hinckley stuff
they will throw it out immediately.

Every press release I've done in the pass has included quotes from insiders, ie. when I was on the board of directors of a human rights organization I had to put in a quote from myself. I would put a quote from FMJeff with some official sounding title, and maybe get one from the boys.
As it is now though, it's tits!

Do you want to mention something along the lines of "Listeners of the show in both the Metropolitan New York and Washington, DC areas" to show the widespread support of this effort? Or will the mention of DC hurt the chances of keeping the show NY based?

There should also be another release in the works to release to the NY Metro Area TV stations if we're able to get the banner off the ground... they may pick it up as filler and it's visual... some TV time would be very beneficial to our efforts!!! <P>

On Friday, November 22 from NOON to 2pm, a plane with a banner reading KEEP RON&FEZ IN NYC WWW.RONFEZ.NET &102.7FM 7-11PM will be flying over the Hudson River between the George Washington Bridge and 34th Street.
This may have been said but this should lead off the press release. Either that or a sentance that is a little more exciting.
ex:
"Fans of the Radio show that is luring people away from there TV."
"Banners flying over NYC at fans cost.!!"
I am not a writer but have had a few releases written for me. They always lead off with a dynamic eye catching sentance. IMHO your first sentance is to long, to much info that is repeated in the title of the banner, and not dynamic enough to make a jadded reporter who reads many of these care enough to read further.
I also found if you write it like an article they will reproduce it word for word in the Paper (people are basically lazy :-))

One-Something's got to give. Two-Something's got to give. Three-Something's got to give.
Now let the bodies hit the flooooor!!!
</b></font>
I made up those quotes without
asking those guys kind
facetiously, so I'll ask Carter if he
wants his name used and check
the spelling of Bobby's name...
Also, there needs to be an "a"
between "becoming" and "Tri-
State"...my bad....
Also, you might want to check the
NY Times Manual of Style for
capitalization rules. I suck at it
and re-reading my quotes I don't
think "Administrator" or "Lite" gets
capitalized, but I'm not sure.
Also, lite music might need a
hyphen, I don't know....I'm so bad
at the details.

Gvac, moderator of ronfez.net
bemoans: "If Ronnie and Fezzie
leave NY, no more hot, nubile,
young chicks will sign up for the
board and there goes my social
life!"
Dan from Hoboken, a local

Have we looked into the area-college newspapers?
They usually eat stuff like this up!
Stevens Tech (Hoboken, NJ)
Rutgers-Newark (Newark, NJ)
The Rutgers Daily Targum (New Brunswick, NJ; online at http://www.dailytargum.com)
NYU (NYC)
Cardozo Law School (NYC)
Columbia (NYC)
Ramapo College (Mahwah, NJ)
Fairleigh Dickinson University (Teaneck-Hackensack & Florham-Madison campuses, NJ)
St. Peter's College (Jersey City, NJ)
Jersey City State {er, The New Jersey City University?} (Jersey City, NJ)
I'm tolerably certain that all but Rutgers-Newark are DAILY papers. And they all have an arts/entertainment or "nightlife" section.
You can probably access their editorial boards online from the schools' homepages.
If you need other help, let me know.
OK, that's enough from me now.
