This is a long one to explain, King, so bear with me.

I frequently take the same train home from manhattan to queens with a female co-worker.

A week ago, some guy gets out of his seat on the train and makes his way over to an empty seat just across from the two of us.

The train conductor was incredibly loud, and this guy used that as his ice-breaker. He started a whole conversation, which mainly involved him and I, and during this conversation he slipped the "is that your girlfriend?" line.

In my weary state, I decided to tell the truth and say "no, but she's someone elses."

To add to that, I tell my female friend, who wasn't really interested in the guy and didn't seem to recognize it, that the guy was hitting on her- while we were still on a train full of people!

Needless to say, my female friend was pissed that I didn't masquerade as her BF and twice as pissed that I pointed out that a guy was hitting on her on the train and talking about in public with a whole audience of people.

I know guys are supposed to physically defend their female friends against male attackers, but if a guy is less than harmless, then should you be a C***k blocker?

DIRT MERCHANT - I don't think it's fair to "assume" that the woman needs your help. If she does she can ask for it.

If however, you were operating under the perception (as in the past) that your role was to be "cock blocker" and you acted in that way, it's not fair for the woman to get angry at you. You should make certain you understand what role she wants you to take before the situation arises.

In reality I am a really nice guy, but the one thing i do despise is girls who expect guys to do everything for the because they are a) hot or b)girls

everyone has known or currently knows on of these. The always want a ride out to the bar so they can drink but are never the DD. somehow they manage to get you to buy drinks for them. and if not you, some other guy they have NO intention of hooking up with or talking to for more than 3 minutes.

I lived in NYC for a summer, and saw hundreds of these girls. This was also the summer where i stopped buyign girls drinks. my new theory is, if they are there they were prepared to pay for drinks. and if they were not, then they were prepared to be sober. I am not their to fianance their night out.

my line by the end of the summer was this (this was only after a girl woudl come up to me and ask me to buy her a drink. yes, they would actually say these words to me, a complete very attractive stranger). "if i buy you a drink, are you going to go home with me?" usually they walked away. oh well fuck them.


This attitude carries into life as well. these are the girls in college who come to your room when they need help with something or want to study, but never for some late night action.

The in the work place, they need you to cover for them on projects that they are going to miss the deadlien for or whatever. it such BS, and yet so many guys feed into their shit that it never changes.
