Why do hockey stats deny the Nordiques??

I was looking up some hockey stats just to see where some players got there starts and what not. And I noticed that players who played for the Quebec Nordiques are listed as playing for the Colorado Avalanche. A good example is Garth Snow, he played for the Nordiques in the 93-94 season. But current stats books have him listed as playing for the Avalanche...this is an error as the 'Lanche didnt start in Colorado till 95-96 season. Ok I know is a little anal, but seems to be the trend in America anymore; rewrite history to deny the past...

hmmm.....thats very interesting.

For a guy like Selanne, do they have his early stats listed as with the Winnepeg Jets or as the Phoenix Coyotes? what about Ron Francis? do they have his old old stats under "hartford" or "carolina"?

man the nords were a good team back in the day. used to have WARS with the Canadiens.

People also seem to forget what a great center dale hunter was with the Nords. Not only did he make one guy a hall of famer, but two guys hall of famers(Michel Goulet and Peter Statsny)

This just makes me realise how much I miss the Nordiques, the Mighty Whale and the Jets. Losing three teams just like that kind of made me turn away from hockey a bit. I mean how f'ing ironic was it that the next year I think it was that the Avs won the cup. What the hell? Also the irony of patrick Roy playing for the Avs. With the harsh rivalry between my Habs and the Nords, that would have never happened. Sure Guy LaFleur played for Quebec but that was after a stint wit the Rangers (correct me if I am wrong). Quebec City is a hell of a town and the fact that them or Hartford or Winnpeg don't have teams is a sin.

God bless that player for that would be a very old player...but realisticly is ridiculous that stats for old teams are listed as there current teams

As of this moment I havent checked Francis' records but am willing to guess they say Carolina. And is wrong cause is not even ten years removed from those cities

It's amazing how good sports cities(at least for hockey) like quebec and winnipeg have their teams wrenched from them, yet the montreal expos are kept in the league, even playing in san juan, while dc is missing a baseball team. i'm from brooklyn, and oddly enough, my favorite teams were the whalers and jets when i was kid, and as i grow up i realize that it was a travesty that winnipeg and hartford lost their teams.

That is really f'ed up. Really f'ded up! Even my olds chool cards have the previous records. Like Gretzkys cards would have Indianapolis (WHA), Edmonton (WHA) and then Edmonton for the NHL too. Same went for Hartford when they were still New England.

Where are you checking these stats?? Because on www.nhl.com they have the real teams listed i.e., whalers, jets, nordiques, rockies and whatnot? So i was just wondering what third rate place you were looking at?

Yeah, I completely agree. Anton & Peter Stastny, Michel Goulet. I used to love those Habs-Nordiques games in the mid-80s. What a great rivalry. Gord Donnelly vs. Knuckles Nilan. Donnelly was a good fighter & tough as nails. Those who remember the 80s know what I'm taling about.

You have a small point as some Quebecers are just down right nasty...but still to deny that a whole team never existed is just wrong. Winnipeg is one thing, but the people of Quebec werent happy about there team leaving...
