Have any of you gone to that parade?
Is it fun? It doesn't look like fun. While I am home is my nice warm house, I see people crowded so damn close to each other and barely have a good view ..
I've never been to the parade ...
And what's your favorite balloon(s)?
Mine are ..
Bart
Snoopy
The classics! :-)

Bullwinkle..I think he killed someone once. But my favorite part of the parade has always been Santa. As far as being there, Ive been there, and youre right its much better watching in the warmth of your home surrounded by the ones you love. I have very fond memories of this parade.

ive gone and it can be fun if you plan correctly. it is really crowded and its hard to navigate the area. but if you have a good spot - there is a festiveness about it and the kiddies simply freak out with pure joy. i wish as an adult there was something that i can get so dern happy about ;)
Firtly its usually freezing so dress warm. also - there are no bathrooms around. the best scenario is finding someone who works on Broadway and seeing the parade from the window of the office. but as opposed to other parades you can see the Balloons way up in the air from way back on the street. its also a spectacle on the Upper West side to go and see them blow up the ballons wednesday night from 8 - 12pm.
maybe ill see you there :D

I love the parade!
One day I will go and stand in the freezing cold with all the crush of humanity, just not Thursday.
Maybe next year.
Like spending New Year's Eve in Times Square. I want to, just not this year.
I love the balloons, I get a kick out of the Broadway showtunes. . . even Willard Scott amuses me!
Ahhh. The only thing that could make it any better would be. . . sipping a nice cup of hot chocolate (or coffee) while watching the parade at home with my family. . . good times.

I use to go to this parade all the time as a kid and it was great every year.
Sure it was a bit cold but just bring some hot chocolate or tea and just huddle next to your family or friends or who you went there with.
Watching on TV is good and less of a hassle but nothing beats the real experience of beign there live.
Plus you get to meet Santa!

I went one time because my sister, who was in the University of Maryland marching band at the time, was a participant. The Macy's Day Parade sucks for various reasons-
-It's cold
-You can't see anything
-It's cold
-It's boring
-It's cold
Other than that, it's tons of fun.

It's also fun to go the night before, when they're filling the balloons. There are less people, but it's just as cold.

I used to work the parade in my younger day. I remember meeting the guy that played Santa inside of Macy's after the parade and was he friggin' drunk!!!

I am with ADF, the parade does not have the appeal to me as much as it did when I was a little kid.
I looked foward to the onslaught of King King and Godzilla movies they used to show on what is now UPN 9 <remember them??>

Maybe its just me, but I never found the parade insteresting at all. I never went to it or watched it on TV. I always played football until the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving, then gained 5 pounds off of turkey and stuffing.
