Here, now, is the greatest thing to infect NYC airwaves since the October 1982 advent of the (then) Boy King of (then) Just One Medium.

Ron and Fez are at least as weird as Art Bell, kinder and gentler than Opie and Anthony (but in the same league as gut-busters), and as personally engaging as the best of WFMU. And, geez, that does just about covers all the bases, huh?

More specifically, Ron and Fez are two fat guys from Florida-wunza Cagney-accented wisenheimer, and wunza squealing, old-school, Charles-Nelson-Reilly/Jm-J-Bullock "bachelor" (he even has the requisite middle name, Fez Marie Whatley).

My favorite moment thus far came when Ron was in the midst of defending his erotic attachment to Monica Lewinsky and Tony Soprano's sister. Flustered, he declared, "Yes, I am sexually attracted to ALL women! No matter who she is, I can find something to fixate on that will make her beautiful to me! In fact, if you say you're NOT attracted to every different kind of woman-YOU'RE GAY!"

What a refreshing kick-in-the-yambag to the mess made by Stern about they're being only ONE acceptable femme form.

Maybe even better, though, was the night I called in. The topic was: If you had a kid who was just getting into rock music, what CD would you give him to start his collection.

RON: You're on the air. What's your album?

SELWYN: How about the Sex Pistols' Never Mind the Bollocks?

RON: If we want to destroy music, yes. If we want to prove we're cooler than our neighbors, yes. If we want to sit there and listen to the whole thing with a kid...no.

SELWYN: But a kid today would probably be into Eminem and Limp Bizkit, you know, really intense, angry, over-the-top music...

RON: I see, and you maybe want to teach it to him old school. I can understand that.

SELWYN: Yeah, the Sex Pistols were like the first band to teach white wimps how to be scary.

RON: SCARY?

FEZ: AIEEEE!!! Ronnie, help me, it's the SEX PISTOLS!

RON: That band weighed 210 pounds combined! I could benchpress them! I would beat those guys up on the way to a fight!

SELWYN: [Collapsed in laughter]
