As you pointed out there's a huge gap in age between 18 and 15, which is less apparant than between 24 and 21.

There is a bigger gap between 18 and 15 because you are both at different places in your life. Chances are you have different interests, concerns, hobbies, thoughts, motivations and desires. You're in or about to start college and/or work, she's in high school. You have different resonsibilities, and issues.

Can the relationship work? Yes. But it is not likely to survive long term. As she grows up, she'll change. Similarly, as you're exposed to new things you'll change as well. The younger you are the more pronounced the changes will be.

In terms of sex and the issue of statutory rape, there are people who cannot consent to sex. Among them is any person under age 17.

However, the age of the "offender" is relevant as well.

NY Penal Code Section 130.25 says that a person is guilty of (statutory) Rape in 3rd degree if he or she is 21 or over and has sex with a person less than 17.

Section 130.30 says that a person is guilty of (statutory) rape in the second degree, when he or she is 18 or older and has sex with a person LESS THAN 15. It's an affirmative defense that the "offender" was less than 4 years older than the "victim" at the time of the act. [These words are in quotes b/c there is no offender or victim unless a crime was committed and in cases of statuory rape that is dependant upon age of both parties]

Section 130.35 says that a person is guilty of rape in the first degree when he or she has sex with anothher person who is less than 11 or who is less than 13, and the offender is 18 or older.

Same rules regarding ages(different sections) apply to sodomy.

When I noticed your screen name I was wondering if you were aware that the slang name for men who are sexually attracted to boys (pedophiles) is Chicken Hawk.

Of course I'm not accusing you and know that was not your intent in picking the name. But you should be aware that it may raise eyebrows. There is even a documentary about the North American Man Boy Love Association (NAMBLA) called Chicken Hawk. I know this because some teacher at Bronx Science in NYC was fired for appearing in it and the story was written up in the papers and New York magazine. The term has also recently come up again with the Catholic Priest scandals.
