Balding

It's something that many of us men have to face.
Unfortunately I wasn't blessed with burly Italian or Greek genes...and I am having to face the fact that I am losing my hair.
I am ok with it...I am not gonna try any of those hair re-growth systems or anything...I'm gonna let nature take it's course.

But my question is...
To shave or not to shave?
My hair isn't to the point where is looks obvious that I am balding...But I see it coming.

Oh Rich, mah bruthah, I know your pain. Recently, when I go to the barber, that little spot in the back gets larger and larger. The all important maternal grandfather was bald at like 28, so I hold no illusions about my future hair pattern. The only problem I have is that I know what I look like with a shaved head, and it ain't pretty. My hairline up front is still fairly solid, so until I start really rockin the Friar Tuck style I think I'll push on.

I am facing the same affliction as brutha Rich over there. At the time I was growing my hair long. It had been a couple months short of a year when I realized that lil patch was there. And instead of being the retard with the long hair and huge bald patch, I went back to a short conservative cut... which keeps going back and back...

And to second the skullet thing, if you are the bald guy with the pony tail, don't do it. I have a friend who promised to kill me if I ever get that delusion.

I agree. I have fewer hairs on my head than a Chia Pet would have alfalfa sprouts if soaked in Napalm for three weeks.

Go short, i.e. Mark Messier, Andre Agassi pre-Kojak, etc. The shorter the hair the better it will look and the less obvious the hair loss will be. If you go total Kojak, just make sure you have a cool looking head.

I agree though, if someone has enough self esteem it shouldn't matter. Those people who sell pills, lotions, etc. are playing to men's insecurities. No one ever didn't get laid because they had a receding hairline, after college at least, it's what's under the scalp not over it....and perhaps what's in your bank account. And remember, hair loss is a result of high testosterone levels. Women who read Cosmo know this.

Rich, I know you, so this may not apply, you'd get laid if you wore a hook rug on your head. But any woman who judges someone for being "follicularly challenged" is superficial and not worth it.

While I'm at it, enough of this shit with waifish women looking sexy. Sure, a women in good shape looks good and a slob is a slob, but I'll take a woman with a great personality and intellect over a perfect 10 body any day.

If it's just light on top and not entirely bald, leave it alone. If you shave it you might actually have it grow back fuller, (don't quote me on that).
Or, you can purchase a bottle of hair-in-a-can, and spray the scalp-area w/ the right color to fill in the spots, just until you decide to shave it or whatever.
But no matter what you do, please do not think that growing a ponytail will substitute for being bald up-top.
