Infinity ADVERTISING WNEW On TV!

Could Infinity be trying to save
the FM Talk format? Just this
week during the airing of
'Survivor', on their way to a
commercial break the black and
yellow WNEW logo popped up
as they said somehting along the
lines of "Survivor is brought to
you by 102.7 WNEW: NY's only
FM Talk station." This is very
strange to me considering that
WNEW has been known in the
past to receive absolutely ZERO
promotion. Why NOW, while in
such desperate shape, would
Infinity choose to run TV ads for
WNEW? ...Very strange. I don't
know if this has any impact on
whether or not they're trying to
retain the talk format, or they're
just advertising due to such poor
ratings. But what throws me off is
that WNEW has never been
advertised in the past. That plus
the fact that this potential
switching of formats is taking
unbelievably long.

Its definetly a good sign. they wouldn't promote the station as talk if they are switching formats in the near future

Yeah i saw it. I was flipping channels and i saw that SURVIVOR IS BROUGHT TO YOU BY 102.7 WNEW and the logo was ont he screen and they said somethign about talk fm. It coudl be they are trying to save it. I think everyone here knows who owns cbs so it very well could be true.

I think we obviously over-reacted about this whole situation of the station switching formats and what not. Are ONA going to be back..yes obviously. Are RNF leaving NY...NO obviously. The good times will be back soon my friends.

This was no screw up. Ads don't just fall into prime time slots especailly something as highly rated as Survivor

Maybe there's a connection between this thread and the thread about D&M signing a new 5 year contract. <P>
If Infinity brings back D&M to WNEW, they may plan to keep the talk format and that's why they're advertising the station. Maybe R&F will stay in NY after all. <P>
And I've never seen such agreement on this board, EVERYONE feels the same about Leykis. <P>
