Holy crap! They've added a bunch of new footage to Dances With Wolves, making this ponderous film 4 hours long! Did they really need to do this? Was anyone really sitting around thinking, ``Gee, this movie's great, but I wish they could make it even longer...''?

I was thinking just that when I saw the extended version of the first "Lord of The Rings" film the other night...I still feel like I'm in half-a-coma...

Well, no, see - they DID need to make Lord of the Rings longer! There were a lot of us who do think that's a good idea! :)
At the very least, having read Dances With Wolves and then seen the movie, I didn't think there was anything that needed to be in the movie that they had left out. However, with LotR, there was a lot of stuff left out of the book that I thought should have been put into the movie...
Besides, LotR was really, really cool, whereas Dances With Wolves had way too much Costner...
