Why is Rory better than Al?

In recent discussions it has been stated by many that Rory is a better producer than Al. Although this may be true, I don't know much about producing a radio show, why is it so? I have not noticed a difference. Can someone please explain this to me, or at least give me lil' tussle and a pat on the ass?

Well, Ron and Fez has never been a show that gets constant guests. As least in the time I've listened. So as far as that goes, I don't think one is really that much better or worse. I will say that unless ridin Dukes was just the way of the show, they seem to yell at Rory A LOT LESS than Dukes got it.

Now as far as better or worse, I find that a lot of people may just like Dukes more because he gave them more Comedy. And that's true. Al Dukes was constantly a source of drops, fights and general funny embarrasment.

But I'm saying that although funny, Dukes is NOT missed. I like Rory because he's not a spineless faggot on the air. He just gets more respect.

And Ron and Fez don't need Dukes. He was an asset, but the show has remained as funny as it was before, during, and after Dukes.

And frankly, I'm a little sick of talking about him. One of these posts pops up every week, and it's the same thing.

Bottom line: Even if he gave us all $1000 bucks and gave Ron and Fez $1000000 he STILL would be BANNED FOR LIFE.

well now i think if he offered up that money i'd take him back...

rory is better because he is. most of the producer work is behid the scenes stuff. if you've ever had to deal with coming in studio, or winning a prize or coming to an event...you'd be able to tell the difference just by how smoothly everything ran.

even when al was producer, RF wouldn't let him run any events, rory ran all the shit and they were happy with this. when ron and fez are happy with the producer, and everything behind the scenes is taken care of;this equals a better show..trust me i've been there when al was screwing up and it just gets people in a bad mood.

rory takes care of the show on and off the air ...RF like him better as a person than they liked al as well. fez will go out and have a beer with rory (or stay in the office till 5am) fez would slit his wrists if he was forced to do something like that with al.

trust an insider...rory shouldn't even be compared to al, because what al did was never really producing.

Al constantly gave excuses for his poor performance (which often led to hilarity). Al was a much better clown than Rory, nearly every aspect of his life was amazingly awkward in some way.

Rory is a wormy rich-kid yes-man, but appartently he knows how to do the job.

should i have expected anything different from the type of obese trash that hangs out on this board and obsesses over the show? i was asking a question with no offence intended but people got scared and defensive to protect THEIR show and THEIR message board from new listeners. i like ron and fez but if them getting pulled would put you over the edge to end your miserable meaningless lives, it would be worth it. 4500 posts?! where did it all go wrong? good luck with the band, really.

if al was a character, or an on air personality instead of a producer, he'd be better than rory..but that is not what his job was, nor was it what he was hired for. rory does his job...

They hated Al from day one because he was picked by management and not them. This made them feel like he was some type of double agent from the beginning. I do miss how they tooled on him though.

The fact is that Rory is simply boring. He brings little to the show in terms of comedy, and it seems that al dukes lack of producing was more than compensated by the laughs he made consistently every nite, not like boring white bread rory

Al Dukes is a social moron with low self-esteem; being ridiculed on the show didn't help either. Al couldn't assert himself, no one respected him, and he blamed everyone else for his lack of talent. All this did make for entertaining radio. <P>
As far as what is the job of the producer, anything and everything that is required to get the show to run smoothly. Just like managing a McDonalds or an office department it comes down to being efficient and delegating. <P>
When you do a good job no one notices, but if you don't everyone notices. A good producer / manager makes it look easy. <P>

(She is very intuitive almost mysterioso, like a cat with human brains) Rory does do a better job at producing as he did even during Al's time. It just feeels different when you call and when you are in studio. Rory is not a strong character like AL was but Al didn't want to be a character anyway and probably didn't want to be a producer either. nuff! <P> <P>

I'm surprised to hear these explanations
from some of the show's personalities on
this board.

At the time around the Hooters lounge
fight I figured Al chose to take an off air
position because Ron and Fez were
ripping on him every night on the air to
the extent that it got very nasty and he
seemed to really snap (ie "This is not a
bit, do you hear me, this is not a bit!!!").
From hearing the replays in past couple
of weeks, it's clear that Al had really good
timing and was willing to sacrifice a lot of
self esteem for the show (like Billy).
However, his comments to some of the
guests were sometimes mean which
was understandable but not acceptable.

It seems now that Al got thoroughly used
since after all he gave to the Ron and
Fez as a personality he got shafted. It's
not clear what Rory contributes to the
show from a listener perspective but I
would understand that he may be easier
to work with behind the scenes. Just
keep him off the air -- If I wanted to hear
about spoiled rich kids I'd tune in to
Entertainment Tonight and Inside Edition.
