What worries me is is that the best they have out there in surferboyville? OK tom take me out with a this or that give me a break.. Leykis is the king of WNEW. He's on in the afternoons, overnights and weekends.

With all the talk shows on Infinity stations, is this the best they can do? And is it really necessary to run R&F into the ground twice a day for 6 months?

There has got to be other shows that would love to be on in NY, even for a short time until a format change. Is anybody running that station?

I haven't heard them say that there's too many suits around there, so maybe there really isnt a real upper managment in place yet.

You could make a strong case that they didn't know what was going on BEFORE the O&A mess.

The station was completely mismanaged (the mess with not wanting to touch Stern in the morning was a big part of it), underpromoted, understaffed and had no direction.

I mean things were looking up when they brought in John Minelli but then that fell apart with the O&A disaster.

IMHO and I don't know exactly if it would have helped, but among the many things I would have done was take advantage of the loss of WEVD and signed Alan Colmes to be on the station (probably fill the overnight slot) as well another idea I thought they should have done was bring Jim Rome to New York. Put his national sports show on BEFORE O&A (it runs live on Premire Radio Network 12p-2p EST and NY is the like the only major market he isn't in) that way they could have cleaned house of the crapfest in the morning (pre-Ferrall) and put a stop to Mike and The Mad Dog/Opie and Anthony crossovers (people who tuned into the first hour of M&MD before flipping over) granted that enters the same BS territory as not touching Stern in the morning and makes the whole "Extreme Talk 102.7" mess even THAT more sadder.

No plan, no marketing, just a sad pathetic excuse of what could have been the future of talk radio in NYC.

Not saying it can't be turned around, (And it goes without saying I'd love to see it turned around) I mean it took WABC quite a few years to get their stuff together after flipping to talk, but right now with just 5 regular on-air staff members (Ron, Fez, Richard Neer, Harris Allen and Eddie Trunk) no sense of direction upstairs the station seems to be running like its on death row, waiting for the execution day or the call for a reprieve

I could never understand why Jim Rome isn't on in New York. I never heard his radio show but I liked The Last Word on FSNY. I know he has a huge radio following and he HAS to be better than Leykis.

I tried to be fair and listen to Lykis when they first put him on after the whole O&A thing. I couldn't make it through a whole show. The hatred that man has towards women is unbearable to listen to. I think he must be gay, because I can't imagine a straight man hating women the way he clearly does.

You know people here are forgetting, we had to listen to this panty waste before a few years ago. He was at one time in the slot that Ron and Fez now have. That was before they had Don and Mike in the current Ron and Fez slot. He was pathetic then as he is now. Christ, dead air is better than him, but as was pointed out, there is more or less nobody running the station...
