not a big deal... Mike seemed like a nice guy... Kind of quiet and just did his job...

I'm one of those (If the Yankees don't win it, then I'd liked to see the Mets win it) type of baseball fan...

i don't laugh but i was glad when the Diamondbacks won... I feel the Yankees have had a good run and a good share of World Series...

i bet a co-worker earlier in the year a hundred dollars that the Yankees wouldn't win the World Series and it took the bottom of the 9th, 7th Game to win the bet...

he wouldn't bet me this past year unless i gave him 3 to 1 odds so I bet him a hundred that David Wells would finish in the top 3 in wins on the Yankee staff... he wound up 1st My co-worker thought Clemens, Mussina, Pettite, and El Duque were gonna lead the pack... I figured Wells was gonna bear down and show that he could still win just as much as Clemens, if not better...

I'm not overly upset about it. I know his record is good, but I never really trusted Stanton in a tight spot. For some reason, he always made me feel very uneasy when he was on the mound.

that isn't going to happen unless the yankees eat a lot of payroll... that deal did not happen cause montreal won't take any big contracts cause of having to be under 40million and Georgei boy want his payroll cut cause of the luxery(sp) tax....

Stanton and Glavine currently have two of the longest streaks of going to the playoffs.

Looks like those will be broken this upcoming season.

I'll miss him. He did a great job for the Yanks, he'll be hard to replace. The situation with the Mets is different, even though he'll be good, they won't have as much overall success as a team.

Yanks shot themselves in the foot last off-season, now their cutting off their leg. Stanton screwed up a few times over the years, but who hasn't? They were wrong to let him go, I think he was the last bit of leadership left in the team, which was the yanks problem last year: no leadership..

Jeter could and will be a great leader, but he's too young, still.

Bernie, Rivera, Posada, Wells? nope, none of them are leaders. Stanton was a spokesman for the players union, and one of the longest standing yankees on the team, aside from some of the ones I mentioned above. Losing him was a big mistake.

I'm happy the mets picked him up, because he doesn't have to adjust his lifestyle too much. He's still in NY, and as far as winning? he's a horse, he always was, and he'll do his job the way he always had, he's got nothing to prove. And who knows? maybe the Mets have a shot this year, um, once they get a left-infield...

But best of luck to Mike Stanton. I'll be the first to say that what the yanks did to him was wrong, they should have at least given him time to consider the new contract, he probably would have taken it... oh, well...

they have a chance, they got rid of ordonez, and singed two quality pitchers. they need to find some one to replace alfonzo, and get help for the outfield....

I'll miss Stanton a little, because we saw with Nelson leaving that once you fuck with the recipe, it's hard to fill in those spots.

Unfortunately for the Mets, Stanton's yearly mid-August to early September run of not being able to get out a Double-A batter will cost the Mets their season, whereas it was just very agravating to the Yanks. Best of luck to you...the headaches are all yours now...and you guaranteed him 3 years, so he can kill your next three seasons.

...silent, but violent.
