Is it possible?

I am a bartender and it is known that they use both hands to make drinks and mix them as part of expediting orders.

But, slowly I have noticed that I am more comfortable doing things with my left hand instead of my right.

Am I making any sense or should I stop eating paint chips?

it mkase perfect sense if you use both hands just as much there going to feel easier and more comforetable using your "week hand"like drummers they can move both there hands at equal speeds it perfectly normal especially for a bartender.

I am sure if I put my mind to it then I can get pretty good at it. But, I was just curious as to why certain people are left-handed or right-handed. I don't need a long-winded explanation but I was wondering if it's conditioning, or is it something we're born with, or whatever!?!?

I am curious...that's all.

I'm a righty, but in private I become a lefty.

What an interesting question! All sorts of theories have been advanced over the years. It is only recently that we have some understanding of what makes some people right handed and others (about 5% of the population) left handed. This "understanding" is far from complete. The biggest achievement is that being left handed is no longer seen as a bad thing, something a person needs to be "cured" of.

50 years ago, a left handed child was punished for using their dominate hand, and "taught" instead to do things right - i.e. with their right hand. The school system actively encouraged it (and still does to large extent. Most desks are made for righties). Many lefties learned to write and function with their right hand. A few could not be taught to use their right hand. A few became ambidexterous. For the latter category of people, the use of both hands let them develop the musculature and ability to use both for all tasks. My father was born lefty, but became ambidexterous from having "righty" instruction at school. At home he continued to use his left hand.

Anyway, there are two sides of the brain. The left side of the brain controls the right side of the body while the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body. (It has to do with the flow of the nerves from the brain to the rest of the body. The right and left sided nerves cross over in the neck.)

Some people favor one side of the body over the other, b/c of the layout of their particular anatomy. The vast majority are more comfortable using the left side of the brain, and are thus righties. A small percentage, are more comfortable using the right side of the brain and they are lefties. (The comfort level comes from what feels right for them. In other words it's an innate feeling. As noted above, however, the innate disposition can sometimes be modified, but there is no reason to do so).

The key question is, "Do you give as good a hand job with either hand?"

I'd be happy to help you decide. I know its unselfish of me, but I can't help trying to assist you in solving this riddle.

I'm always worried about admitting this because most people poke me with sticks when they hear, but i'm left handed. I've adapted to doing many things right handed, and some things are still left handed. For instance I play hockey right handed but golf lefty. I write with my left hand but have my computer set up with the mouse on the right side. I can bat switch, and when I snow and skateboarded I was equally comfortable either way. Mrs. Impact apparently notices that the left arm of my coat is always dirtier as well.

Left handed people can definetly grow accustomed to doing things with their right hands, but no matter how hard I try I cant write with my right hand. Ponderous, Fucking Ponderous.

I'm left-handed and I was in heaven when we went to the Left-Handed store in Boston.

I'm ambidextrious also because I write with my left hand and do EVERYTHING else with my right hand; cut, throw, wipe, etc....

I'm a smarty pants because the mug in the Left-Handed store told me so. :)

Last year I broke the middle finger on my right hand in two places. I had to wear a splint on it for 3 months, 24/7. I started doing a lot of things left-handed, even throwing a ball.

I had always been extremely uncoordinated with my left hand, but soon started to get the mechanics down. I'd say it's extremely possible to do.
