Check Book

I believe I have lost my checkbook. Do I just have to call my bank, or do I go down there to fill out a form? I have no clue what happens when you lose something like this.

I work for a bank, call them as soon as they open and let them know, they should then be able to put a hold on the book. Hopefully you can remember the last check you wrote ,you dont want those checkes that are still unpaid to be stopped.You will have to go into the bank also,you need to open a new account. Most banks will open a new account with a new #. Good luck

Sorry to hear that. I would say call the bank pronto. So if some scumbag does find the checkbook they won't be able to have them clear. Plus so much i.d. is asked for these days I couldn't really see anyone actually using it. Good luck.

BAM summed it up. Immediately call your bank. Cancel your existing account (explain that your checkbook was lost/stolen.) Let them know which check #'s should be honored. Open a new account.
