Does anyone remember in the mid eighties when there was alot of wrestling on tv? Besides WWF on channel 9 on saturdays, there was NWA World Championship Wrestling on TBS from the TBS Studios. World Class championship wrestling was on msg network weekday afternoons and AWA used to be on ESPN. Those were the days

Aw, memories...our local CBS station also used to carry Mid-South & UWF wrestling. Also, on Sunday nights, I used to watch Pro Wrestling Illustrated's syndicated show ''Pro Wrestling This Week.'' In fact, bewteen all the local stations, there was always a wrestling show on from 12 AM Friday night/Saturday morning to 11 pm Sunday night. I totally loved the weekends when I was a kid.

WWE still puts on like a show a day...with no competition! God Vince, at least leave the NWA alone

What do I have to say? This is not a bit!

the first time i saw Shawn Michaels was in the AWA. it was him as I think the Midnight Rockers against Buddy Rose and I think Buddy Landell every week. they had a bunch of bloody matches.

I used to also watch some league based out of Texas on ESPN at night...the Von Erichs seemed to win every week. Usually against Black Bart.

anyone remember GWF? Global Wrestling Federation? This is where Sean "X-pac" Waltman broke into the business as the Lighting Kid. Also Marcus "Buff" Bagwell got his first shot at stardom as the Handsome Stranger. As well as The Patriot, The Dark Patriot, etc. I kinda miss the olden days. :-( :-( :-(

I believe you're thinking of World Class Championship Wrestling, they were a part of the NWA for a while after they disbanded they merged with the Memphis territory.

But don't take my word for it...Doot-Doo-Doot!!

Yes, I do. They replaced WCCW on my old cable system... but then only lasted about 2 months.

Weren't they the ''innovators'' of the bungee match? :)

GWF also gave bith to Harlem Heat who was then known as the "Ebony Experience" WCCW gave me my first viewing of Jeff Jarrett and The Great Muta who was then known as "The Super Ninja" and Paul Bearer who was then called Percy Pringle
