View Full Version : TEAM ANGLE, good or no good?

RF Godfather

From yesterday's WWE Smackdown! we have a new minifaction created by Paul Heyman just as a contingency plan for our American hero, Kurt Angle.

It is entitled TEAM ANGLE. It consists of Charlie Haas, a mutli-time All-American Seton Hall alum who has tremendous technical skills and Shelton Benjamin, basically Brock's friend from University of Minnesota and tag team partner in the indys when they were called the Minnesota Stretching Crew.

This is something I am really happy about for once, WWE!

A main eventer is finally taking two young guys under his wing and giving them a chance to shine. 'Bout damn time WWE!

What do you think?

Team Angle, good or no good? And why?

two scrubs does not make a team! plus a fat giant.. and the walrus coo coo ka choo..Two scrubs? Why don't you face them in a ring and say that? You haven't seen them wrestle and assume they stink. They are solid talents if given the right program and this is a solid start in their collective WWE careers.

How naive.

And I doubt Team Angle has TBS part of it.

this is good good and double good! Both of these kids have alot of potential (Shelton Benjamin is freakin amazing!) to get a push like this (without it being a real push) is just what the wwe has to do. Great job on Smackdown once again!

Hate to break it to you, but Charlie Haas is NOT a fucking scrub. <P>
Having been a Haas Brothers mark since seeing them in Jersey All Pro back in '99, I am SO thrilled to see Charlie get what will hopefully be a tremendous (and well-deserved) break for his career. Russ would be so proud. <P>

VERY good, for two reasons.

1. It gives us two new, young wrestlers that (hopefully) will become stars in the WWE. This is what we need more of. More good, new wrestlers, less old, lumbering ones (Undertaker's gonna be back for the Rumble I'm assuming?).

2. It fulfills Angle's request to management for more smaller, technical wrestlers for him to work with (i.e., more talent, less hosses). I tend to believe that Angle really WILL be mentoring them, not just in the storylines. It's been said that Angle is always quick to become acquianted with the younger workers and help them out when he can.

Charlie Haas is going to kick your ass!!!

I trained with the Haas Brothers a few times towards the end of their run in JAP. They were an incredible team and had some amazing moves. I think having them come in as a team is the best way to break them in because the tag team division is disgusting and they can really make an impact.

Now I have to figure out who peachy is because we probably have met. Are you a photogropher?

Although the way his eyebrows were plucked looked a little unsettling, I was really happy to see Charlie Haas make his WWE debut. I was surprised since I hadn't even heard of him working dark matches recently. But for all I know, he could have been tearing shit up on Velocity, I'll never see him there.

I was a student with him & Russ at SHU, although I don't think I met him more tham once or twice at a TKE party, but he seemed to be a likeable guy...especially for one who could rip my arms off if he felt the urge. I just hope this new faction doesn't run its' course through Rumble & into Mania, then leave Haas in the doldrums of Velocity because they don't have enough time to write a storyline for him. I have no doubt that Benjamin is headed for a big run.

I think the WWE is actually pushing the right people now...Benjamin and Haas have a lot of potential...theres a lot of really good talent in OVW, thats why the WWE has been bringing them all in. Nick Dinsmore and his tag team partner(sorry, i forgot his name) are supposed to be next. And of course Sean O'Haire and Mark Jindrak are comin back as well.

What do I have to say? This is not a bit!

"Mr. Wrestling" Nick Dinsmore will be a main eventer! Mark my words. He is the Real Deal!

For those who don't know him here is a little info. He was a former multi-time OVW Champion and Tag Team Champion! What made him stand out in my mind was taking "The Crippler" Chris Benoit to the limit in a tremendous technical match at OVW's Christmas Chaos on Jan 31, 2001.

Nick Dinsmore and his tag team partner(sorry, i forgot his name) are supposed to be next.metasatan, do you mean "Ironman" Rob Conway?

Being aligned with Angle, with the promo Heyman gave and what they did to Benoit after the match made them a legit tag team to be feared.

Dynamite, Fat Frank wanted me to bring in porn chicks and wanted me to wrestle and wouldn't do anything for me until I got him girls. I wanted to manage and wrestle ocassionaly but I refused to do anything with the girls for him until he put me on a few shows. So nothing came of it. I am a great bumper. Jay Lover and Da Hit Squad loved dropping me because I made it loud and dramatic. And Magic was cool. I saw Frank and Monsta Mac in the city a few weeks ago and he told me to come out so we could talk.

And Hippie, I'm hurt.

And to stay on topic, Angle now has his own horsemen, Him as the well rounded champion, Show as the muscle, and Team Angle as protection/threat for the tag belts.

I SAID IF YOU THINK SHELTON IS A GOOD WRESTLER YOU Must think MAVEN IS A GREAT TALENT... NEVER ASSUME CAUSE YOU MAKE AN ASS OF YOU AND............... <P> You must be Spaz, because that's the only person who could possibly follow that logic. <P> Shelton and Charlie are two guys who've wrestled throughout their scholastic careers, went through pro wrestling training, and crafted their skills in the independent leagues before being signed by what was then the WWF. After that, they went through another year or so in OVW, where they further enhanced their skills before finally being called up to the ''big time'' by WWE. Throw in the fact that Charlie did all this while coping with the death of his brother and fellow WWF developmental talent Russ Haas, and I'd say it's pretty damn impressive. <P> Maven is a glorified rookie from what was essentially a shitty idea in the first place (Tough Enough). So far, TE's provided us with a bland ''grappler'' who's already been sidelined with injuries half his career, an annoying valet, two women who've undoubtedly participated in the worst match in Raw history (and that's saying a lot), and a kid who, because of his lack of size, is reduced to a speaking role on Velocity. Maven is just another example of being an overhyped nobody. <P>

I don't get something though. Heyman has got the Big Slow. Then gets Angle a few weeks ago. Then he introduces Team Angle. Now A-Train (Wreck), Albert, Monkey Boy, (whatever) is running with them. How come they're never together? I don't get it.

On 2 side notes, the team angle matches yesterday were sweet.

And notice the build up for the two title matches. HHH and Angle are both hurt, and they're not wrestling anyone. They're doing essentially the same thing to build up each match, but the Smackdown build is so much better. Why is that?

On team Angle - I liked the Haas brothers a lot when they were doing teh Northeast Indy thing. I liked Shelton a lot when I got tapes of a few OVW shows a while back. I thought he was the stronger member of his team with Lesnar, who was REAL green at the time (late 2001, I think). I like the fact that they're being pushed as WRESTLERS, I'm liking Angle's role now (FINALLY he's in a role I can accept, I've always been a fan of the guy, but I've always hated the roles he's played). I'm looking forward to seeing them in some nice 20 min. PPV matches with the SD 6 minus Edge (he's...eh). Of course, that'll probably never happen. It's WWE, I always need to remember that, Heyman'll turn on them and the next week they'll lose a 3 minute handicapped squash match to Albert. Fucking dumbasses. <P>
I guess I'll enjoy it while it lasts. It's also nice to see a black dude who isn't playing a stereotypical black role (for now at least). The guy can flat out WORK, and if given the chance, I could see him being a major player. IF. <P>

No good. Its a sucky angle, bad storyline and not going anywhere. The WWE can barely do anything proper with the roster they already do have. Adding more shit to the pile only makes it look more desperate. <P>
