Rey Snachez may be a very slight step up from Ordonez, but, still isn't anything special. The Mets are still gonna be a mediocre team. They wish they had 8 no. 1 starters like the Yanks do!!!! HAHAHAHA, I love it!!

Rey Sanchez aye, Irishkb. Well its better than nothing I'll give you that. Decent contact hitter and a solid fielder. Not bad but nothing really to celebrate.

I really wouldn't mind picking up Jose Hernandez right now at 3rd/SS even with those 188Ks and we have to get Jose Cruz!

For the love of God... we need Cruz patrolling our outfield!

I am a HUGE Mets fan and they will lose 100 games this year unless they get someone to hit the ball. They will be a BAD defensive team. Suspect pitching.... I say bring up the kids from the farm...at least give them some experience. I have a bad feeling....to be continued. <P>

He's solid defensively, has a better bat than Ordonez and ultimately could serve as a mentor for Reyes. A native of Puerto Rico, Sanchez committed only six errors in 149 games at shortstop in 2001 while splitting time between Atlanta and Kansas City. He was leading all Major League shortstops with a .994 fielding percentage (three errors in 491 chances) before a July deadline deal sent him to the Braves.

Sanchez ranked second among American League shortstops in 2000 with a .994 fielding percentage, committing only four errors in 674 chances. He also set Kansas City team records that year for fewest errors and fielding percentage by a shortstop as well as establishing the Royals' team mark for consecutive errorless games by a shortstop (60).He is a pretty damn good infielder but I agree I would love to have Reyes, Heilman, Wright, Huber, etc. start but the Mets don't want to rush them.
