dinner is always a good idea for a first date. you get a good opportunity to just sit and talk, and see if you actually like this person at all. (as people said), movies aren't a great idea until you know the person, since you can't talk or anything. and, if the dinner goes well, sometimes going somewhere else for a nice dessert is a good idea.

You might wanna think about walking a block east and trying Virgil's - http://www.virgilsbbq.com - but definitely make a reservation and ask for table 60 (very romantic, its 1/2 a booth on the 2nd floor, away in the corner and with a view). The prices are a bit steep, but no more so than with Carmines.

Forget bowling. Pool's o'kay, Caroline's Comedy Club a few blocks north is better.

Movies are a first date cop out, you wanna be getting to know eachother, not sitting in the dark with a few hundred strangers.

The idea is to keep things light & fun, in an environment where you'll both feel comfortable.

This would be easier if we knew a little bit about her. How old is she?
