so when rappers from atlanta (like ludacris and outkast), and rappers from louisiana (like no limit and cash money) came out they started calling it the dirty south.

and in texas they call it the 'third coast'

Well as Aggie said the Dirty South is really what Outkast deemed themselves after their first album in 1994 along with the rest of the Dungeon Family (Slim Cutta Calhoun, Goodie MOb, etc.)and Jermaine Dupri it was later used to include guys like Timbaland & Magoo, and the Yin-Yang Twins. So the term was then coined and now it has applied to guys like Ludacris and some others (Slim village i think but not sure)
Then people threw in CMM, Juvenile and the rest of that crap rap that they poisoned airwaves w/ in the late 90's ( i think Master P's guys put out an album a week back then)

and yeah D12, Nelly, the St. Lunatics are midwest guys. You can tell them apart by their inablity to say the word here or pair or words like it instead you get--Its hot in her and i need 2 per

Too many rap guys have sold out to commercialism to get radio play thats why you hear almost zippy wu played while Jay Z songs from 1999 are still played.
