how do you get rid of a hickey?

a "friend" of mine has recently acquired one, and it is of great importance that she hides it when she is with her "romantic interest." make-up really isn't doing the job, i suggested turtle necks and maybe a choker. yet neither of those would help her with the one she also has on her ear. is there anyway to get rid of it or do you just have to wait for it to disappear?

Or just burn yourself with a curling iron by the ear and neck, that's a feasible accident.

i havent found anything that works. i've tried all the various ways people claim will work, and none of them ever do. whenever i've had one, it's been makeup, turtlenecks, and wearing my hair down. not very scientific, i know. you're gonna have to wait it out.

I got one at age 33...from an 18 year old (go me!)

Try this: brush the area of the hickey with a plastic bristle brush while blow drying over the area (don't burn yourself!)

Another option is creating a paste of Accent Meat Tenderizer and Papaya extract (creating a combo of MSG and papain extract). Place over hicky and let sit until dry. Then cover with tootpaste (not gel) overnight, if you have the time. Colgate works best.

Use the curved outter side of a silver spoon, and rub it downward on the area... Keep doing that til the redness goes away.

I also hear a comb works also.

I wouldn't know... I only give hickeys. :)

LULU - First some general information for "your friend." A hickey is merely a bruise that happens when a person sucks and bites part of your body, which causes the blood vessles under the skin to break. The neck is particularly suseptible to hickeys but they can happen ANYWHERE on the body.

There is NO cure. Time will heal it, as it does with other bruises. In the interum wear turtlenecks and or scarfs. In your friends case, perhaps a prosthetic ear a-la lord of the rings style would cover it up. She can tell her boyfried that she wants to play elf....or vulcan.

The more important question to ask your friend is why she is getting hickeys from a guys when she is already in a relationship.
