i went to dinner tonight at this new (i believe it's new anyway) restaurant on 6th ave in the village called gobo. it was amazing. it's vegetarian, so i'm sure a lot of you wouldn't be interested based on that alone. but the food was great, and the atmosphere was cool. they have this avocado thing in a wasabi lime sauce that was unreal. if anyone's in the city and looking for somewhere good to eat, you might want to check this place out

any other recommendations?

in the village also, Cucina de Pesce; great seafood, and a veggie lasagna you wouldnt even miss the meat. It's on 3rd and 4th (u pick which ones an ave and which ones a street, i 4get) All the muscles u can eat at the bar while u wait for your table. It's small and packed, but surprisingly easy to hear your date across the table.

Morton's Steakhouse, on 5th and 45th. It was the most wonderful dining experience ever. The steak melted in my mouth. The wine was superb. The dessert was scrumptious. Ask for Brandon, he was a treat.

My dog just farted behind me on my bed.

There are so many...I guess we need to keep this to the listening area...so:

Le Bernardin for amazing seafood; Nobu's tasting menu for ecclectic Japanese fusion; Daniel for French; Remi for Northern Italian; Lombardi's and John's for pizza if you can't get to New Haven; Cafe Des Artistes for romantic and great French; Union Square Cafe for everything; Maloney and Porcelli for the Crispy Pig Hocks; The Palm for steak and lobster; Sparks for steak and wine; Shabu-Shabu for amazing shabu-shabu and sushi; Phoenix Garden just for the salt and pepper shrimp alone; 2nd. Ave. Deli for pastrami sandwiches;

and of course,

Gray's Papaya for hot dogs.

I really enjoyed eating out in Morocco because I was able to afford to eat in the best restaurants in that country. My friends and I really treated ourselves at a French restaurant in Casablanca mostly intended for French implants to the former colony; when we realized that the food was so good we ordered every appetizer on the menu. There was also a fabulous restuarant in Tanga; you could enter from a set of stairs up to the city's walls. We saw the waiters shucking garlic and almonds all day as we did touristy things. The wait staff treated us very well and we had Moroccan cuisine at the highest level.

I was at a restuarant in Marseille by the pier with a buddy. There we decided to try the local specialty, the bouillabaise royal. It took us 5 hours to finish that dish, along with 2 bottles of wine. I think that may be the best 5 hours of my life.

Argentina offers great food too because of the quality of their meat. I was at a barbeque near Mendoza and we ate pounds and pounds of meat each, as is the local custom, along with all of the zapallito, tomotoes, and local wine you can stomach.

I can't think of any meal I've had in New York that compares to these, though I really enjoyed the Italian restuarant Max I went to in Brooklyn when it opened there.
