America is so engrossed in reality t.v. shows and gossip newspapers (a lot of even major newspapers now are basically gossip oriented - compared to what they were like years ago (general news oriented).
I was reading that one of the theories behind America's fascination with reality t.v. and gossip is because years ago (probably more than 50-75 years ago) most people lived in a community where everyone sort of knew everyone else. And that people weren't so transient. Basically, towns had families that lived there 3 and 4 generations (or more). I guess, the point being, is that we kind of miss that comradery and closeness that we had in the past with our neighbors and family, and that we look now to t.v. and newspapers to do it for us.
Do you believe this to be true?
