I'm all for that, but, she was just watching the kids for their mom. . . her cousin. . . who is in jail and had multiple child-endangerment counts filed against her.

My larger concern is for the children: who is going to take care of them? I hope they don't get shuffled around in foster care, especially in Newark. It's a rough town.

Poor little kids. I never cease to be amazed at the depths of human brutality, especially when it comes to children.

My roommate is a hospital social worker. She was on-call during the Christmas season. I'd like to say that the number of child (and, to be fair, spousal) abuse cases she was called on was absolutely unbelievable. WHY do people make their kids suffer?

It turns my stomach to see things like this. And makes me want to bitch-slap EVERYONE who mistreats a defenseless little kid. I mean, that's like kicking a puppy or a kitten. They're just babies!!!! They need you to protect them and make them feel safe, not be the source of all their fear and anxiety. *shakes head* It's a sick m-f-ing world we live in, folks. Sick.

YEah, I became aware of this story after listening to NJ 101.5 yesterday when I was lost on the Parkway. They were holding a toy drive for the kids and I was touched by it. You have NO RIGHT to be a parent if you are going to do this to your own flesh and blood. SICK!!! Very very SICK!!!

Before the death penalty, I hope she is made to suffer like her children did. I wish there was some kind of law where you had to take some kind of test before having kids. Not for all but just for the sick f's out there.

Murphy is a cousin of the mother of a dead 7-year-old and his two brothers, who were found starving and locked in the basement of a Newark home this week. She was supposed to be looking after the children while the mother, Melissa Williams, was in jail.

I don't usually get too worked up about the news.. seeing as how reporters tend to fabricate or add an extra oomph to spice up a story.

But listening to the radio, watching all new stations, reading the paper, I am so pissed and sad at the same time. I cannot imagine what those boys went through.

What gets me is that that female didn't want to tend to them, she was just looking out for the monthly welfare check.

Not only is she a nasty old whore, but she has no care in the world for innocent little darlings.. HER OWN BLOOD!!

- drive a motor vehicle (powerboat, car, bus, truck, moped, motorcycle, etc.)
- own a gun
- practice medicine or law (plus the schooling, of course)
- be a social worker or nurse

Yet any yahoo who gets pregnant can be a mommy? Something isn't right here.

I'd like to believe in a female "maternal instinct", but my own mother was cold and distant. She didn't seem to have that. No, it don't make her a bad person, but it doesn't guarantee that she's gonna be a great Mom on the sole basis of the fact that she's got a matched set of "X" chromosomes. When my parents divorced (nearly 10 years ago), it wasn't my mother who got custody of my siblings and me, it was my father, and with good reason.

That's a reason why I send my DAD a Mothers' Day card or gift each May in addition to his Fathers' Day card in June. . . he's been both to me.

I still cannot understand how someone can do ANYTHING this cruel to a little kid. They're just a BABY!!!!! Some "renaissance" for Newark, eh?

And, just so everyone knows, at the age of 16 a teenager has reached the legal "age of consent" in NJ. They can most certainly be tried as an adult, and, in many cases, will be.

In England, there was a special form of punishment for those found guilty of treason. This sounds kind of appropriate to use on people who don't show remorse over killing someone...

1. Hanging until the person is "half-dead" as they put it. I guess you didn't "drop" which would break the neck

2. When "half-dead", they would be cut down, and the abdomen is cut open and the persons "entrails" are pulled out through the slit.

3. The entrails were thrown on a fire nearby, then the person was beheaded and the body was cut into four sections.

4. The head was placed on a spike on London Bridge as a warning to others of what fate would await you if you committed treason, and the four body parts would be sent to locations or towns where the person lived or committed the act of treason...

Sounds kinda smelly and messy, but, hey, I think it would be a great deterrent...

I don't know about anyone else, but I felt the EXACT same way about Andrea Yates and Susan Smith and THEY WERE WHITE.

I don't care what color you are - white, black or polka-dotted - it's just plain WRONG to do things like this to little kids. I mean, a 7-year-old and a 4-year-old, locked in a dark basement, with a BUCKET to use as a toilet, starving and malnourished. . . "man's inhumanity towards man" will never cease to amaze and disgust me. It's fascinating to a point, really, because we're capable of extreme caring, yet, we're equally capable of extreme cruelty.
