Seriously....who's better than you, LatinSpice? Thank you so much for the warm wishes...don't know how I missed it before I signed off, I guess I'm just not in the Lounge enough. You are the best. Although a simple dirty email pic would have been sufficient. :) That way I would have known you didn't think I'm gay.

Feisty, thanks very much. You see, you're sweet & Feisty...quite a nice combo.

And to my fellow Legacy member Peachy....how did you know exactly what I wanted for my birthday? You never have to worry about getting the right size when you shop that way...Thanks!

Thanks ladies,

- John D.

FAMOUS EVENTS
Insulin first administered to diabetic patient (1922).
In the first flight of its kind, American aviator Amelia Earhart departs Wheeler Field in Honolulu, Hawaii, on a solo flight to North America. Hawaiian commercial interests offered a $10,000 award to whoever accomplished the flight first. The next day, after traveling 2,400 miles in 18 hours, she safely landed at Oakland Airport in Oakland, California (1935).
Smoking cigarettes declared hazardous to health by US surgeon general (1964).
Leon Trotsky, a leader of the Bolshevik revolution and early architect of the Soviet state, is deported by Soviet leader Joseph Stalin to Alma-Ata in remote Soviet Central Asia. He lived there in internal exile for a year before being banished from the USSR forever by Stalin (1928).
Francis Salvador, the first Jew to be elected in the Americas, takes his seat on the South Carolina Provincial Congress. In June 1776, Salvador, a Patriot, became known as the "Southern Paul Revere" when he warned Charleston, South Carolina, of the approaching British naval fleet. Thanks to Salvador's intelligence information, Fort Sullivan in Charleston harbor was able to prepare for the British attack, and the half-completed fort successfully repelled an attack by a British fleet under Sir Peter Parker (1775).
On Connecticut Avenue in Washington, D.C., the cornerstone is laid at the first mosque of note in the United States. Intended to serve as a national mosque for all American Muslims, the Islamic Center was built in a traditional Arabic architectural style, complete with a 160-foot minaret from which prayers were to be announced. A colonnade cloister joined the mosque to two wings containing a library, classrooms, a museum, and administrative offices. In the basement of the mosque was an auditorium built to accommodate several hundred people. The Islamic Center's first director was Dr. Mahmoud Hoballah (1949).
Charlie Chaplin's $16 million estate is frozen by court receivers after his second wife, Lita Grey Chaplin, sues for divorce. Lita was a 16-year-old hopeful actress when the 35-year-old Chaplin married her in 1924. The bitter and prolonged divorce ended a three-year marriage with a $1 million settlement (1927).
The hit song "Ol' Man River," from the musical Showboat, is recorded by Paul Whiteman and his orchestra, with Bing Crosby singing the lead. Crosby left Whiteman's band the following year and went on to become the best-selling recording artist of his day (1928).
James Clavell breaks records by commanding the highest price to date for book rights. William Morrow & Co. and Avon Books bid $5 million for hardback and paperback rights to Clavell's novel Whirlwind (1986).

Sorry for digging up an old thread, but my cable modem was out for almost the last two whole days & I never got a chance to thank all the people who stopped by this thread to send their well wishes.

This board is a great place to vent frustrations, chat at length about stuff only a few other people in the world care about. But also, it's a place filled with a lot of great people.

So, I just wanted to express my appreciation to those who took a few minutes out of their day to bring a smile to an otherwise uneventful day (except, maybe, for an obscenely large steak dinner):

DarkHippie - thank you, Champ!
JerseyRich - thanks & thanks for the painful softball memory :)
WWFallon - there is no occasion for which you cannot find an appropriate wrestling pic (even though I'm easy)...good stuff & thank you!
RonFez Mark - I've seen those types of lists a few times before, but I've never seen one with anyone worth mentioning as a "birthday buddy." Thanks to you, I now know that Amanda Peet falls into that category....NICE! In this case, as always, you do good work sir.
Aggie - thanks, and of course, it was my pleasure.

And to those people whom I've met only briefly (& some not at all), special thanks for taking the time to make someone you barely know feel special: Doogie76, Katylina, AJinDC, Cybersoldier, & reefdwella.

And as for you, Justice4all, you already know how I feel about you....SO STOP BOTHERING ME! Just kidding, thanks again bro.

And again to the ladies who had trouble sleeping & showed up to the party Really early:
