My girlfriend is white, a redneck, AND from Texas. Her family is just THRILLED about me. Texas is more than just the south. Remember Texas used to be it's own country so Texans are fanatical about being Texans. Add that to being from the south and the inbred pride that brings and well...I think I shall be packing a 9mm at family functions.

I've never in my life had a civil war discussion with a fellow southerner. On the other hand I've never met a single yankee who I haven't discussed it with. I don't know why it's just kind of expected I guess. That "reconstruction" deal didn't go off too well on our ancestors.

It's all in good fun though.

But when the revolution starts back up I'm gonna get me a shotgun and kill all the yankees I see. :)

I was out on Oklahoma last year with this guy from GA. now, it was a fairly easygoing conversation, but out of the blue he mentions "the war of northern aggression."

Well, I went off. The main focus of my argument is "Northern aggression? You attacked us! You attacked FT Sumter & invaded Maryland at Bull Run. The south started it and got what they deserved.

I don't think anyone ever argued this point with him, because he just backed right down. It felt good.

You attacked FT Sumter & invaded Maryland at Bull Run. The south started it and got what they deserved.


1. South Carolinians considered Fort Sumter to be property of that state. They told the army they could stay there as long as they only brought merchant ships up to resupply them. They didnt..the militia drove the ships off, then told the army they had 48 hours to get out.

2. Manassass (or "bull run") is in Virginia, first invaded by the north. If anything was invaded first, it was maryland, where the federal government took over the whole state, arrested people for no reason, shut down the presses and circumvented the entire constitution..
