siamese twins... why and how?

hey horde king... this is a serious question.

why do siamese twins happpen first off... and here is the real question i am wondering.

how come it is always guatamalans and people from central america? no where else in the world are there really ever any of these problems happening. why is it centralled to those places?

Conjoined twins (called
"siamese" only because of
a very famous pair of
conjoined twins named
Chen and Eng who
travelled in a circus freak
show and were from siam)
happen when an egg does
not split completely. If it had
split completely, you would
have had identical twins.

Most conjoined twins do not
very long; in fact I believe
that half of them are
stillborn.

As far as I know, conjoined
twins are not more frequent
in any regions of the world;
where did you get your
statistics?

i get my statistics from the news i read on news websites and on the news.

but seriously, everytime you hear about them. they are usually coming from guatamala or central america... look at the past 20 cases... nearly half of them were guatamalans

I tried to find stats on
conjoined twins but I
couldn't really, the closest I
could find was the following
site that I THINK lists all
reported cases of conjoined
twins year to year; as far as
I can tell there does not
seem to be any
preponderance of twins
from central america, but I
didn't actually run any
statisticaltests on the
numbers, of course. You're
welcome to do that yourself!

"Siamese twins" are not exclusively from Siam, Central America or anyplace else. They occur all over the world.

The term comes b/c the first conjoined twins displayed and publicized in the US were from Siam. (This already refutes your assertation that they all come from Central America. (By the way, Guatamala is IN Central America).

I presume that you hear more about the conjoined twins in Central America than elsewhere, b/c we live closer to Central America than we do to Europe, Africa and Australia.

but hordeking. the ones from one of the asian islands a few years back came to america to get surgery... but a majority of the ones we hear about are from central america, yes. but why is it that we never here of american's have conjointed twins?
