Dumpy was not fired per se. He went on a 4 week vacation to Australia. This is in excess of his vacation time. Management was not happy about this and it became a sort of Mexican standoff situation; Dumpy insisting on going, Management insisting that if he went he wasn't welcome back. He went, so....

If you think about it, it's like the WWF. The current star (dumpy) goes away to try to make a movie and the new star takes over (AL dukes). The only thing to settle it, is to have dumpy come back and challenge AL to a Producer Death Match....
