View Full Version : Whoever said academia is full of liberals was probably right
Man my professors at law school are going off now a days about Bush this, the patriot act that. Civil liberties this, our president is dumb that. Man is it GREAT! My conservative friends are always bitching after class but us liberal pansies always tell them to blow it out their ass. If you want conservative teachers go to a freaking trade school!

Most Conservatives go into the business world. Most Liberals hide in "Ivory Towers" and want to brainwash your children.
They call it "progressive higher learning". Ha ha!

Maybe it's because conservatism can't stand up to logical examination and a complex view of the world, so conservatives have fled to their own ivery tower sponsors in the business and power politics world? It's too bad, because liberalism and conservatism, like any ideas need open dialogue or they deteriorate into dogmatic ideology. Conservatives need to stop using liberal-bashing as a cash cow and re-enter academic world and honest debate. In other words, walk it off deek.

Don't listen to them. We already control the media lock, stock and barrel, and they just can't stop being whiny, pissybaby, watermonkey fatheads about it.
See? They're crying RIGHT NOW.

Colleges are fucking liberal factories.
Today was my first day of one of my classes, and my teacher started going nuts about government lies and all this crap.
Then he started talking about all this multiculturalism bullshit for about an hour.
I wanted to kicking him in the fucking nuts.

In what regards, especially in today's international climate, could the idea of multiculturalism EVER be considered "bullshit"? Do you even WANT to learn anything, or only hear what you want to hear?

The class is diverse.
Great.
Don't talk about it for an hour and a half.

i'm currently in law school myself, and i can't say that i've really noticed the same thing that you have. i would certainly say that none of my professors are conservatives, but i also don't think it's fair to say that they're all liberal. i think that, depending on the course, you might end up getting a somewhat slanted view of the professor's beliefs. or maybe they're just all liberals at your school...
also, it's probably not fair to have used the word "academia" in the thread title. as mentioned in some of the previous posts, there are plenty of conservative academics to be found in other disciplines.
have i mentioned anytime recently that i love yerdaddy. because... well... i do

That still doesn't even remotely clarify the context in which he was trying to teach you. Did he really just spend and hour and half talking about all the different people in the class? Or did he try to apply the model of the class' diversity to a larger issue? Did you bother even saying something...or even that you just disagreed? You ARE allowed to speak...or do you just prefer having issues you can rage impotently over on an internet message board?

It'll take too long to explain. Basically the liberalism written all over colleges pisses me off.
Some classes I have to take (because I'm an evil, racist, intolerant straight white male)
Modern China
Racism and Justice
Indians of North America
plus some regular ones.
They're actually good classes and I like them, it's just the whole reason I'm being forced to take them that pisses me off.
Even if I was a racist, sitting me down in a classroom isn't going to do shit.

You can't possibly be "forced" to take those particular courses. You have to take certain TYPES of classes in the various subjects, and there's usually plenty of choices...at least there were in the three schools I went to.
Maybe I'm wrong and you're at some bizarre school where they told you to take those EXACT three courses or die, but that sounds kinda strange. Were you a little late signing up? Remember, the sooner you sign up for next semester's courses, the more options you have...
And do you REALLY want to take American history/politics AGAIN? After studying them every year all through grade school?
It's college, man...live it up. I opted for an extra semester even after I graduated, and there are still classes I wish I had taken...make the most of it.
And if you do really "have" to take these courses, speak up about the subjects brought up in class if you disagree, like I said...discussions and in-class debate are some of the best ways to get your learn on...it's either yours or your parents' money, so make the school work for YOU.

Ha! Another teacher went off today! He was talking about impeachment and we discussed the Nixon and Clinton cases. He says something like Clinton was impeached because of politics and then says "just to be bipartisan we better talk about a Republican" and spends 15 minutes on how Nixon sucked (covering up crimes and whatnot). And he threw in Bush too (prof thinks he sucks for anyone keeping score at home). More whining from students of course, which was great, of course.
