I agree with Ron on the fact that there are band wagon fans that like a team as the begin to win. I have a cousin that who ever wins the big game no matter what sport the next day he sports all the gear he can and will wear the hat all year long.
I am a RAIDER FAN since 1968., I was turned on to them by my dad who was a Jets and Raiders fan and to this day I am too.
My High School North Brunswick Twp. H.S. was named after the Raiders ( we got to vote on it) we even tried to have the exact same uniforms but the powers that be thought it was to thug for 1973) We even went 2 years with out a mascott becouse no one would agree on one. The main reason for being a RAIDERS fan is becouse they are and always have been the mis fites of footbal they are unruley and dont follow the pack. They take on alot of free Agents and rock the house with one of the best all time winningest records in any sport ( reminder 51% is a winning season).
Although I love the R&F boyz I say I'm a fan GooooOOOOO! RAIDERS

As someone who lives in Tampa and went to the Bucs-Niners playoff game, I have to say I think i qualify as a Bucs fan.
Go BUCS!!!
Greetings from Tampa: The weather is here, wish the radio was beautiful.

Ron said that fans who jump on bandwagons aren't real fans and if you are not from the city the team is from you aren't a real fan. Well i am a New Orleans saints fan I never lived in Lousiana nor have the saints won anything. Can i be a true fan? I think so

i hate the arguement that if you don't live in the city you can't be a fan. I'm a Chiefs fan and have never lived anywhere near Kansas City. But i watch every game and i'm sure i have an above average knowledge of the Chiefs. just because i'm a fan of a team doesn't mean i'm going to move to that city.

I don't like the idea of having to live in the city either. I'm a Bears fan...I was born in Chicago, but my family moved back to Jersey before I was a year old. So I never spent any real time there. I still suffer with the team just as much as if I lived in Chi-town, it's just not quite as windy in Jersey (but it's close at times).

if you hurt when your team loses, and you HATE all the rival teams, then you're a fan.
having said that, i love both the giants and the jets. i WILL NOT choose. having 16 games per year, 1 per week, is little enough for me to claim sanctuary with both LOCAL teams, dontcha think? i'm not guilty of this with baseball and basketball, but when it comes to football, i love both the locals.

If you have rooted for a team ever since you could grasp the concept of the sport and still do, then your a fan. The city where you are and where they are from shouldnt make a difference.

I have been a Raider fan since 85 when I first started to watch pro football. My main motivation was because it drove my family nuts since they are big Jets and Steelers fans (Don't ask, I have no idea). I have to agree with Brian on them being the misfits of the NFL and now the NFL's "I thought they were done" graveyard. But what lured me in was their nastiness, every down, every game.

I used to live in Tampa and followed Bucs football closely for 5 years, until i moved back to NY and rediscovered the Giants.
But I wouldn't consider myself a Bucs fan. I am pulling for them though.

My brother and I are HUGE Jets fans (I have been a fan since 1971). My brother now lives in North Carolina and still bleeds green and white. I guess I'd better tell him that he now must become a Panthers fan. It's gonna break his heart! <P>

I have been a jets'fan for a long time.. since the waste of a pick on blair thomas, the mess of Dennis Byrd, the killer of the Dolphins Ken Obrien... i sat through the 1-15 years and the 4 coaches in like 5 years... god i am just glad the jets have put 2 years of winning football back to back...
