Tonite I got home from work (late as usual) and I had a message on my answering machine saying:

"Hi this is Sue with Verizon I'm calling because your account was handed over to my office... uhmmm, its been RED FLAGGED if you can give me a call, my number is 732-XXX-XXXX"

Now... what the fuck??? I have my home phone, cell phone and dsl from verizon... so does anyone have any idea what this is about???

Its got me freaked out, I dont know if its fraud on my phones or something I downloaded, or what!!! its driving me NUTS.

I called the number and I got a voicemail system, no live person... It was kinda late for business hours (around 9pm) but I would think if it was something really important they would have a 24/7 service woulnd't they?

Anyway, any idea what this is about? any similar experiences?

Peace and Hugs,

Orallo, chill mate!

it may just be that, as it was in my case, someone has tried to perpetrate a fraud and they have taken steps to protect you.

My cell phone had been "cloned" and someone had racked up a load of minutes on "my" number.

They took action to freeze my phone so they could investigate.

This might be the cause in your case.

Sleep well and call them in the a.m.

Thanks Dean,

That kinda puts me at ease a bit.

I was feeling all "big brothered" for a while... Where did I call? what did I download? I was re-examining every phonecall I made, all the sites I've visited and all the p0rn I've downloaded in the last week...

I don't know... I'll post about it tomorow when I talk to them. (unless they sent a squat car (or the silent black helicopters) to my place overnight and they wisk me away to an undisclosed location)

Peace & Hugs to all.

Now... what the fuck??? I have my home phone, cell phone and dsl from verizon... so does anyone have any idea what this is about???Before you call tomorrow, I suggest you:
- Delete the porn from your harddrive.
- Add the number to a local church, museums and neighborhood watch programs to your cellular.
- And explain that the 3am $4.99/min charge to your home phone was completely due to your clinically diagnosed sleepwalking.

And if all else fails... try having phone sex with the bitch.

DUDE!!!!! PAY YOUR BILL!!

Verizon Ordered to Give Identity of Net Subscriber
By AMY HARMON

moothing the way for the entertainment industry to pursue people who trade music and movies online, a federal judge ordered Verizon Communications yesterday to give a record industry trade group the identity of an Internet subscriber suspected of making available unauthorized copies of several hundred songs.

In the closely watched case, the Recording Industry Association of America argued that it had the right to invoke a legal shortcut compelling Internet service providers to turn over subscriber information without requiring a copyright holder to file a lawsuit.

From the above link NY Times

Maybe you should have only made a few available?

I got red flagged by my bank because of someone trying to steal my identity. They noticed serveral large withdrawls being made at a branch far away from my normal bank at the same time I was making a deposit at my local branch and deactivated the account on the spot. Not only that, but because they were able to move so quickly they were also about to catch the guy who did it within an hour.

I guess the point is that red flagging can work out in your favor.

Ok, so I called them and the first thing they do is ask me the phone number that this message was left on, I give them my home phone number and the lady says:

"ok let me check what this is about... is this the XXXX XXXXX Roofing Company?"

I was like, "WHAT? not even close lady!!"

So she repeats the number back to me, I confirm, and she says, "then dont worry about it, it was an audit about a business phone bill issue"

That was the whole thing... and I was scared shitless all night for THAT? wtf?

Anyway, peace *& hugs.

we get paper mail to our house from time to time addressed to someone we don't know, but the address is ours. As we are the first owners of the house, it isnt and old owner. Odd, huh? Makes me paranoid sometimes too.

The next call will no doubt be. "Your account has been red-flagged which qualifies you for a special rate if you renew your contract for a year."
