Well I have been using Kazaa for many things from downloading movies, to porn, to what it is mainly for- songs. My computer f'd up about a week ago and wouldn't even startup. We took it to a computer doctor and he fixed it up nicely. He said one of the problems was lots of files I download from Kazaa have "spyware" (Im not exactly what that is anyways) inbeded in them. I had close to a gig of "spyware" on my computer. Anyone have some good downloads besides Kazaa for movies and songs and pictures? *I've tried Bearshare and Morpehus and I didnt like them.

Grokster or Kazaa Lite.

Just a side note, did those

they saw how much porn you
had?

I too have recently had problems with my computer. I have no idea what the problem could be. Is there a way I can check to see if my computer has a large amount of "Spyware"? Thanks.

heh, I always delete it after I use it. I'm not risking hearing this anymore from my mom:

"Shane what the hell are these naked pictures on here for!?!"

Lavasoft has a program called "Adaware" that will locate and remove any "spyware" that Kazaa or anyone else has snuck into your system.

You can download it for free here http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

Once you remove all the spyware, you'll find that Kazaa won't work until you re-install it. They've got a hell of a racket going. I'd suggest Winmx or something else.

Computer guys can always dig it back up. Nothing is ever deleted as far as I'm concerned. When I'm done with this computer I'm gonna take a sledgehammer to it. And then burn it, just in case.

For purely privacy reasons of course. Nothing too embarassing here.

Is the ad-aware safe? I don't want it deleting files my computer needs.

I know I have some spyware shit on my PC taking up space and would like to get rid of it.

I've been using Adaware for about six months. It will go through and identify what it considers "spyware", and then it shows you the files it found and gives you the option to delete the ones you want, or not.

In my opinion, it's perfectly safe, and given the choice of having "Adaware" or "Spyware" on my system, give me Adaware any day.

Personally, I love ppl that use Kazaa or programs like it. They will accept download anything. I have taken over so many computers owned by ppl that use Kazaa. You may wanna take the big leap to irc. Especially if you download movies. I have all the dvd screeners of the movies that are out now, including The Lord Of The Rings:Two Towers. They are all dvd quality and look amazing on my big screen tv. You can get files much faster on IRC too. Kazaa is just for spreading mass amounts of viruses.

Please excuse the name...My Brooklynlivecam username seems to have been killed

usenet

God, I miss usenet. I used deja news to read text stuff for a while, but I think that got gobbled up by something. what NNTP servers do you use? I remember most of them dissalowed binary files, then again I haven't made an effort to look for any usenet servers in years...

I use Blubster and continue to use Kazaa. There is a way to remove most of the spyware programs once you download Kazaa, they even tell you the names of the programs on their website. You can remove them using the Add/Remove Programs option from your control panel.

The first time I ever used Ad Aware I had 208 instances of spyware. Almost any advetising banner or pop-up you come across puts some sort of cookie on your computer to track where you go on the net.

Theres Kazaa Lite and also Direct Connect, its hard to use but if kazaa ever gets canned, its the only good source to use.

I use limewire and thats pretty
good too. I liked it so much I
acutally even paid for the "real"
version of it and I never have any
problems. Then again I'm
running things on a mac platform
so I dont really ever have any
problems period =)

Computer guys can always dig it back up. Nothing is ever deleted as far as I'm concerned.

Two programs:
CyberScrub will delete a file beyond recovery and I use Spybot to get rid of Spy and Adware.

An easy way to erase EVERYTHING is to put a magnet to your harddrive, and a match to your memory.

I usually just put everything in the diswasher and run it through the pot scrubber cycle. Really cleans those hard_to_get_at trojans and boot-sector viruses.
