Clonaid says new clone from dead baby
Fri Jan 24, 7:17 AM ET
The group that says it produced the world's first cloned children says a third baby born Wednesday in Japan is a clone of a Japanese couple's 2-year-old son who died 18 months ago.

I like the idea of, lets say, if my dog gets hit by a car all I need is a papertowel that I used to wipe her off the interstate & a wheelbarrel full of money, and I can have a carbon-copy of my puppy back. But, I think this starts to set a pretty dangerous precedent.
Am I the only one who think the Boston Red Sox are already in closed door meetings to get a small vile of Ted Williams bloodcells in the hope that 18 years from now they will have a familiar looking lefty come through the minors to resurrect the franchise?

Does anyone here actually believe these Clonaid people really did clone a human being? Cause I sure don't.
But really, if they have....isn't this exactly why people are afraid of cloning? That people like THESE are going to be the ones doing the cloning?

I'm sure they haven't b/c if they had they'd have allowed others to verify their process and examine the child. Although they initially agreed to do so, they subsequently changed their mind.
The fact is, however, that no matter what silly bans are put in place in the US there will be clones. The US will just be behind the curve until we wake up and realize that clones are not a threat to the idea of a soul (if you're into that stuff) and that clones will be different people - even if they have the same genetic structure as another, because we are much more than merely the product of our genes.

This can only pave the way for a whole new generation of dead-baby jokes.

Q:why did the dead baby cross the street?
A: because the chicken it was stapled to had to drop off a skin sample to Clonaid.
