Question about Wellbutrin

HK Im curious to know, how long this stuff takes to enter you blood stream, and start working on ballancing the chemicals in your brain. Now I remember you once saying something about time released, Im not sure what though. Nor do I know if my pills are fast to release the chemicals or slow.So now with all that,lets just give a fact that someone like me, is taking 150Mg's twice a day, 6 hours appart. I dont know if that helps at all.

Most anti-depressants take 4 to 6 weeks to actually kick in. Your seritonin levels take time to level out and you must build up a blood serum level. In the meantime, cut down on your smoking and alcohol intake (if any)-Good luck!!

I forgot to mention Ive been on wellbutrin for over 4 months. As far as cigarette intake goes, Im smoke like 2 cigarettes a day M-F if that, however On the weekend I tend to smoke more if Im out drinking.

you're not supposed to drink when on wellbutrin. Of course i was on it for years and drank like a fish, so i guess it doesn't matter, but that could be why it hasn't taken effect

I am on it and Just got bumped to 300mgs a little over 2 weeks ago. Its almost been a month total that ive been taking them. i have noticed a change in myself but whether or not thats from the drugs i dont know. last week i was feelings great and this week my nervousness and everything else i had has returned.

the one thing Ive learned NOT ot do is drink on them, it lowers my tolerance, and the last two times I drank on it I got VERY sick and learned my lesson

they say you shouldnt drink... they mean, dont drink till you puke... you can have a few... but do not over do it every night. over do it every now and then

You can start seeing some benefits from Wellbutrin in about 2 weeks but it takes 4-6 weeks to build up to a theraputic level.

Wellbutrin is marketed as both a "regular" pill and a "slow release" version. (This is probably what you meant by time released.) The slow release version is supposed to make the levels more constant throughout the day as opposed to peaking shortly after taking each pill.

Most of the litterature on Wellbutrin recomends taking 2 doses a day separated by at least 8 hours (not 6) to minimize the risk of seizure.

One of the things that increases this seizure risk is alcohol. The two just do not mix! Be very careful about that.

Its funny that you say 8. I was Just talking to my doctor, and he said most people say 4 hours is enough to take them apart, however he recomended 6 for a lower risk of siezer

I called the manufacturer. Unfortunately, I didn't think to ask if the person I was speaking to was a Dr. an nurse, or a saleswoman. In any event, she said that optimally there should be a 12 hour separation between the doses. She acknowledged that most people shouldn't have any increased risk if the doses are 8 hours apart. Any less increases the (slight) risk of seizures. Of course, those who already have seizure disorders or related problems and must take the medication should dose as far apart as possible.

In any event, by all means discuss it with your doctor, but follow his recomendations. After all, he is the one prescribing it for you.

my doctor told me about 6 to 8 hours take it..

you do not want to take it before you go to sleep though, because it sometimes can cause you to be more awake
