This may seem incredibly pompous and self indulgent, but it's my birthday so please forgive me.

As I grow yet another year older I find myself becoming more and more a man of deep introspection. I'm constantly trying to discover more about myself and my place in this world. I'm still not quite sure exactly who I am or exactly what that place is, but I'm getting there.

First and foremost, I'm a man of passion. Everything (and everyone) that means something to me has my complete and total devotion. My family, friends, and hobbies are things I give myself to completely, as I know no other way. I love with all my heart, and while that has lead to devestating heartbreak at times, it's also let me know joys and pleasures beyond belief.

Music continues to be a source of inspiration and mystery to me. It's been a large part of my life for about 25 years, and my fascination only grows stronger.

My country is another of my many loves, and I believe with all my heart that America is the greatest nation that ever existed on the face of this planet. We've got our share of problems, but I'm a bit of an optimist, and I am sure that one day damn near every one of them can be lessened if not completely obliterated. My faith in the people of this amazing land is unwavering.

Loneliness continues to be my biggest enemy, and while I've had the pleasure of being with some wonderful women in my time, the fact that I haven't found "the one" as of yet continues to be the biggest disappointment of my life. Again, I'm an optimist, so I'm not anywhere near throwing in the towel yet!

In closing, I'd be remiss if I didn't let you know how eternally grateful I am for each and every one of my friends here on the board. All of your love, well wishes, and support mean more to me than you could possibly imagine. If someone had told me a few years ago that I would develop deep and powerful relationships with people I met over the internet I would have told them they were insane. How wrong I would have been.
