I was wondering if any one knew how long Ron and Fez's contract with Infinity was?

I don't know, but I pray to God that they don't re-sign. Infinity has done nothing, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, to support the Ron & Fez show, from day fucking one.

Initially, they gave them a lousy time slot. They didn't give them experienced producers. They shifted them around time slots. They never promoted the show.

In essence, they've done everything in their power to hurt the show.

Fuck Infinity. Mel should let Howard program his radio properties because he's doing it anyway. Who ever heard of talent dictating what other shows a company can do or not do? Did Jerry Seinfeld complain to NBC about "Friends"?

Hello, New member here but a fan of R&F since they first arrived in NY. I believe the contract is for 3 years which should be up very soon. I hope they sign with another co and kick Infinity's A$$!

There are several other broadcasters, such as Westwood One and Clear Channel to name a couple. I hope our buddays will explore all options when their contract is up. I'm sure that there are stations in NYC that would be glad to pick up Ron and Fez but can't because of Infinity.

You know, if it wasn't for Infinity, you probably would never have heard of R&F.

Westwood One is not like Clear Channel and Infinity. They do not own radio stations per se. They just own shows and personalities. A lot of what you hear on 770 WABC are WWOne products, as well as Don & Mike, Loveline, and Lick-Ass.

Bullshit! Ron and Fez were a part of a hit morning show in Florida where they kicked Howard's ass on a daily basis. Sooner or later R&F were going to find their way into New York.

My guess is that Q104 is going to flip their tired old format very soon, and we'll see Ron & Fez and O&A on that station within a year or so.

As far as beating Howard...lets not get all high and mighty. Im sure they couldve gotten to NY on their own though, thank you Jeremy Coleman for doing it though.

My guess is that Q104 is going to flip their tired old format very soon, and we'll see Ron & Fez and O&A on that station within a year or so.

Those dicks arent gonna change their formats, I dont know how many times a year they do their "All Zeppelin Weekend" thing, but they arent flippin formats because in case you dont realize it, (other than the Radio Chick in mornings) they get ratings overplaying that stuff.

However Im sure theres plenty of stations no one knows and/or cares about that might switch formats soon enough and bring back Ron and Fez as well as O&A, or at least one of them.

Theres not enough middle fingers we can point at Infinity

My only problem is that let's just say Ron and Fez risk leaving Infinity to come back to NYC, where will they go?

There's no more talk stations left. Howard is the morning show to an otherwise Music oriented station. That cunt the Radio chick's show isn't all talk is it? I heard she talks in between music.

So I mean where will they go. When the motherfuckers flipped the NEW format, they pretty much killed one of the only places for talk in NYC that I know of. (Please prove me wrong because I want to be wrong.)

I'd LOVE to see them on Krock, but I just see Stern killing that somehow.

DON'T GET ME WRONG! I want them back and will help any effort to get them an a NYC station, I just don't see much hope it they leave Infinity to come back here.

Plus, the grass isn't always greener, you know? They may want to play it safe and stick with the fanbase they've already made and will no doubt increase upon in DC.

Unfortunately, you're right Moe. There just aren't any more NYC FM talkers, unless someone else flips.

Don & Mike, Loveline, and Lick-Ass.
I love how casual the hatred for Leykis is. Lick-ass is just an acceptable substitute for Leykis and we don't even bat an eye because we know it is true.

My guess is they'll re-sign with Infinity when they're contract is up. The radio business is tough and they have a steady gig with WJFK and it appears they have a chance to go to WYSP.

Moe is right about there being no place to go to in NY (I too wish I'm wrong about this). As to K-Rock, does anyone remember what Stern did to the Greaseman?

I beleive Westwood One is part of Infinity Broadcasting. Maybe Internet Radio is the way to go. It's working for Ksexradio.com.

As far as I know, Westwood One is a part of Infinaty somehow, I dont exactly understand it so I could be wrong.

Man, you guys are using the abused wife logic here. What evidence do you have that Infinity is going to treat Ron and Fez any better than they have these past three years.
If they re-sign with Infinity, they're just asking for more abuse from the corporate suits.

If we've learned anything from the WNEW experience, it's that Howard Stern is the power behind the throne of Infinity NY radio, and Stern will never let Ron and Fez back into NY on an Infinity owned station.

Westwood One, Infinity, etc. are all under the control of CBS/Viacom and Mel Karmazin, and Mel answers to Howard. If Ron & Fez sign onto a CBS/Viacom radio property, they will not be allowed onto NY radio per instructions of Howard Stern.

The only reason why Ron & Fez, Don and Mike, Radio Chick, etc were even tried in New York was because of the success of O&A, which gave WNEW the power to check Howard's power. Without O&A, Howard has the ultimate power.

infinity has done an EXCELLENT job when it comes to FM Talk personalities.

You know why? Becasue they signed ALL OF THEM.

A while back, Infinity took a proactive stance in securing their morning ratings, aka, Stern. They went out and signed up all the cometition. Liek them or not, Lick-Ass, Don and Mike, Opie and Anthony, Ron & Fez...jus to name a few. ALL are signed by Infinity and many are syndicated through Westwood One (an Infinity property).

The ultimate example: Opie and Anthony. They are off the air and will continue to be until their contract expires in June of 2004. Yes, another 18 months off the air. Infinity won't let them out of the contract where they could directly compete against Stern.

So the alternatives from Infinity, for an FM Talk friendly format are non-existent.

It's really not practical to expect FM Talk personalities to suddenly jump to Clear Channel and be able to be successful. Infinity has pretty much PROVEN that the FM Talk format CAN'T work unless you have Stern in the morning.

Furthermore, it's not like there are alot of ALT/Rock Clear Channel station in O&A friendly markets (figure that they would have to pave the way for other FM talk personalities to join up). Boston, Philly...neither have Clear Channel Alt/Rock station. Yes, NY has 104.3, but I wouldn't expect anything until 2004.

Sadly, the best bet would be to hope for R&F to K-Rock...and that Infinity sucks it up and brings O&A back to NY, Boston, or even Philly to start off.

Hopefully, O and A, and R and F will come back on the same station in back to back time slots. That's not going to happen at Infinity. The worst thing would be for R & F to get moved to afternoon drive on KRock and then O and A get an afternoon drive on a competing station. That would pit the friends against each other. Hopefully if R and F get a spot in NY it will be in their best time slot 7-11.

does anyone remember what Stern did to the Greaseman? Stern has forever ridiculed anyone who's tried to do a talk/comedy show in any of his markets... Whether they're on a competing station or his own station. And another thing... Why is Stern still considered God almighty when it comes to this stuff anymore? The last time his show showed any originality, cleverness, or even hinted at being funny was around 1998! I thought his rating had been dropping steadily for years. I've listened to talk/comedy radio since I was a kid listening to Imus. In the 80's WNBC tried to do an all-day comedy line up with Imus, Soopy Sales, Stern (At his ultimate BEST), Joey Reynolds, and some others I can't remember. Then the stupid Zoos came along and destroyed the concept. WNEW made a valiant effort in trying to bring the format back, but without O & A (and no P-R-O-M-O-T-I-O-N), the format was doomed. Ron and Fez need to be on a station where their lead-in is strong. They can't go to KROCK and go on in the evening after 8 or 9 hours of ear splitting rock (not that I don't like having my ears split now and again). It will never work! And the truth is that Stern will probably crucify them! He's a complete asshole that way!

but who knows the state of the talk radio industry, especially in NY? Would they try to jump ship for a better job, or is it possible that there arent jobs to be had? Think about it.

Getting back to the original question I think their contract is up a year from June. If I remember right that's when O and A re-signed and I think R and F re-upped around the same time.

Unfortunately with O and A yanked Stern pulled in No# ratings male 18-34 (or whatever that demographic is) in the last book. He wiped the competition because there was none. Stern eats dingleberry.
