Hello Mr. King,
I've been on anti-depressants on and off for about twelve years. I have been prescribed Klonopin for when (on the rare occasion) I suffer a panic attack. My doctor prescibed 20 1mg tablets way back on 10/1/01. Are they still "good?"

Almost a year and a half beyond is a tough call. Generally I always remember that anything over a year should be reordered. I think you have up to a year after.

Alice here's an interesting article I just found on this..check it out...
http://www.redflagsweekly.com/altschuler/2002_sept09.html
...studies show that expired drugs may lose some of their potency over time, from as little as 5% or less to 50% or more (though usually much less than the latter). Even 10 years after the "expiration date," most drugs have a good deal of their original potency. So wisdom dictates that if your life does depend on an expired drug, and you must have 100% or so of its original strength, you should probably toss it and get a refill, in accordance with the clich‚, "better safe than sorry." If your life does not depend on an expired drug - such as that for headache, hay fever, or menstrual cramps - take it and see what happens.

Ms. Fuzzybutt - All medications have expiration dates on them. Look on the bottle and you'll most likely easily find it.
Taking a medication that has expired can cause several different reactions.
1. No effect to medication
2. Lesser effectiveness of medication
3. Sickness
4. Death.
The last is not at all usual, but it happens. Never take meds after the expiration date.
Kolonopin is meant to be taken "as needed" and not on a daily basis. You were prescribed the medication less than a year and a half ago. Odds are that it's still perfectly safe. (Some of my back medication doesn't expire until 2008!!!)
HOWEVER, you must verify the expiration date.
