After watching the French Prime Minister react to Colin Powell today, it just reaffirmed my opinion that the french suck. Shut up and go with the crowd instead of just being their typical waste of a Security Council vote. After Powell stood there and said that Iraq is hiding weapons and that more time will result in move weapon movement, the asshole French PM said that the UN inspectors should take more time in Iraq and see what pans out. What an ass.

Does this piss off anyone else? Or even better am I the only one who hates the French?

You are certainly not alone. The French are trapped with their original statement that they do not want war, and now will not retract it no matter the evidence. What can we expect though from a country whose biggest military victory in the last 50 years was the sinking of the Greenpeace 'Rainbow Warrior'?

France No Longer an Ally
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WASHINGTON, Feb. 4 (UPI) -- France is no longer an ally of the United States and the NATO alliance "must develop a strategy to contain our erstwhile ally or we will not be talking about a NATO alliance" the head of the Pentagon's top advisory board said in Washington Tuesday.

Richard Perle, a former assistant secretary of defense in the Reagan administration and now chairman of the Pentagon's Policy Advisory Board, condemned French and German policy on Iraq in the strongest terms at a public seminar organized by a New York-based PR firm and attended by Iraqi exiles and American Middle East and security officials.

But while dismissing Germany's refusal to support military action against Iraq as an aberration by "a discredited chancellor," Perle warned that France's attitude was both more dangerous and more serious.

"France is no longer the ally it once was," Perle said. And he went on to accuse French President Jacques Chirac of believing "deep in his soul that Saddam Hussein is preferable to any likely successor."

French leaders have insisted the country will oppose any military action against Iraq without a second resolution by the United Nations Security Council, where it holds one of five crucial veto powers. Last November France did vote for Resolution 1441, which promised "serious consequences" if Iraq did not cooperate with U.N. weapons inspectors verifying that Iraq has indeed dismantled its programs for chemical, biological and nuclear weapons.

"I have long thought that there were forces in France intent on reducing the American role in the world. That is more troubling than the stance of a German chancellor, who has been largely rejected by his own people," Perle said, referring to the sharp electoral defeat suffered by Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder's party in state elections Sunday.

Although he is not an official of the Bush administration, Perle's position as the Pentagon's senior civilian adviser gives his harsh remarks a quasi-official character and reflects the growing frustration in the White House and Pentagon with the French and German reluctance to support their U.S. and British allies.

"Very considerable damage has already been done to the Atlantic community, including NATO, by Germany and France," Perle said.

"But in the German case, the behavior of the Chancellor is idiosyncratic. He tried again to incite pacifism, and this time failed in Sunday's elections in Hesse and Lower Saxony. His capacity to do damage is now constrained. Chancellor Schroeder is now in a box, and the Germans will recover their equilibrium."

Perle went on to question whether the United States should ever again seek the endorsement of the U.N. Security Council on a major issue of policy, stressing that "Iraq is going to be liberated, by the United States and whoever wants to join us, whether we get the approbation of the U.N. or any other institution."

"It is now reasonable to ask whether the United States should now or on any other occasion subordinate vital national interests to a show of hands by nations who do not share our interests," he added.

THAT is the only part of your rant I will disagree with. NOT rushing to war is a VERY FAVORABLE stance to take. And I'd prefer there are 2 sides to an argument so that a more sensible middle ground can be found in ANY debate.

That being said, Iraq is FUCKING DEAD and FRENCH FAGGOTS can't fight. They'd prefer to sit back and make snotty remarks.

the big reason the french dont go with the crowd is that their vote on the security council is their only real vestige of the world power they once had. Now they cling to that vote and take opposite sides on issues because other then that they are irrelevant to the matters of the world

oh yeah one more thing do you know what the french word for victory is?

I'm no fan of the French either...but the EU in general has seen and lived through wars on their lands and have since moved past military buildups and human devastation.

On a historic note, yes France pussed out in WWII, but who helped the American revolutionaries fight the British for freedom? That's right...France. They also helped stabilize our economy in the early days of independence. People always seem to forget the whole picture.

FrenchB237, I love when you post because it always is good for a laugh. The French supported us in the Revolutionary War to piss off the English, not out of some higher ideal. You seem to conveniently forget that in 1756 we fought the French in the French and Indian War, so they had a score to settle with Brittan. Keep up the great work.

Yes they wouldve presumably. You have to understand how much blood was shed and how terrible world war I was to know that France and England wouldve gone to any cost to avoid war again, even if that included selling out the poor Czechs and appeasing Hitler. Some might say they were too hard on the Germans with the Versailles treaty, but the Germans were just as harsh with them after the Franco-Prussian war, if not harsher.

Ive been wary of France's motives in Iraq ever since they sold Saddam that Nuclear Reactor, which (thank God) the Israeli's blew up

Pretty much. The French and English had been fighting each other off and on for centuries, and the French wanted to make sure they could beat the english before they jumped in to help(almost too late). Plus, they thought when we became a country we would be terribly weak and vulnerable, and could then come in and claim us as one of their own colonies.

About the Germans, I suppose they dont want to be labelled as Nazi's or have anyone bring that up again. I mean the place was a military dictatorship FOREVER so i guess they would be glad not to be in one. Plus the country basically was reunited only about 15 years ago, which isnt very long to build a good army

The French only supported us in the Revolutionary War cause they figured they could get something from us, not to mention they hated England, and to see England get thrown out of their own colony would have just been great.

El Mudo you bring up a bunch of interesting points; the french wanted to avoid WWII b/c after WWI when American soldiers came home and made babies. the french couldn't b/c they lost a large portion of their adult men. So France had no baby boom, which in turn led to no soldiers to fight in WWII

well not only that, but their country was ravaged, their economy was junk and world war I was probably the most terrible war in history. People dont really seem to realize just how much the french and british had lost..i mean the british themselves basically lost three whole armies...the old Regular Army was wiped out at Mons and the early parts of Ypres, "Kitchener's Army" was wiped out on the Somme and then most of another one in Ypres and in the Ludendorff offensives. Heck they were down to using 16-18 year old boys near the end of the confilict, not to mention at one point the Germans were sending down millions of tons of supplies to the bottom of the ocean a month at one time.

The point is, i can't blame them for not wanting war with Germany. They were both too weak to oppose the Germans, and knew it. You can build all the fortifications you want, but if you don't have the soldiers or the will to use them they arent going to work.

People also think the Germans were geniuses to come up with "Blitzkrieg" but in reality, it was all they could do cause they didnt have the supplies to sustain a long offensive.
