Mayor denies claims she masturbated businessmen

MAROOCHY Shire Mayor Alison Grosse was forced to deny that she masturbated several prominent Sunshine Coast businessmen and a well-known politician, in a civil court hearing yesterday.

She was responding to suggestions put by defence barrister Jack Curran about a therapeutic massage business she had run from her Mountain Creek home in 1994, prior to becoming mayor in 2000.

Cr Grosse is suing former lover and Sunshine Coast Regional Apprentices Limited managing director, Rob Purvis, for $250,000 in damages, claiming he stalked and harassed her for up to eight years after she ended a year-long affair with him in 1994.

Cr Grosse told the court that some clients, including the recently divorced politician, had had the mistaken belief that her massage business might also include sexual favours, and that had been a shock to her.

She told the court that one particular high-profile identity had put her hand on his penis during a massage "which was not welcome" and she had pulled away.

The mayor said she had been warned when studying with the Swedish Institute of Massage for her diploma that some male clients could become aroused.

Cr Grosse said Mr Purvis was "insanely jealous" when she started the business and allegedly threatened to tell her second husband, John Jones, that she was prostituting herself.

"He said if you do it them (masturbate) then do it to me and pulled down his pants," she said.

The court also heard yesterday from social counsellor Ken Warren who said he had separate sessions with both Cr Grosse and Mr Purvis in 1999.

He said Cr Grosse's "goal" was to know how to stop Mr Purvis's "stalking and harassment", while Mr Purvis wanted to know how he could "disengage himself from his relationship with Cr Grosse".
