If someone wanted to donate things like computers, parts, and cellphones, and other electronics, etc are there organizations to contact to do this? And would something like that be tax deductible?

I've already done my taxes, but someone asked me this and I remember hearing that you could donate these kinds of things and get tax write offs but I don't know how they would go about doing it.

I've donated stuff like that
and I called groups that I've
given money to and asked if
they take stuff. They issue
you a receipt that you can use
for tax purposes. I got
receipts for the full value of
the items.

In NYC there is a radio ad for
donating your car to Heritage
For The Blind (where a friend
of mine actually works) and it
always makes me laugh because
I just image them giving cars
away to blind people.

Of course you can do it and of course it counts as a charitable contribution (just make certain to get a reciept).

There are many wonderful agencies that really need donations such as Catholic Charities, JASA, the Interfaith Inn, etc.
