Dutch band Gompie was created by Dureco Records' head Rob Peters and veteran guitarist/singer Peter Koelewijn and a team of session musicians in 1995. Their debut release, "Who The Fuck Is Alice?", was an offbeat (and lewd) response to Smokie's enduring 1976 single, "Living Next Door To Alice". Peters struck a distribution deal for the Benelux nations with Artur Prait of RPC Entertainment, resulting in the single staying at number 1 in the Netherlands charts for four weeks. A full-length album followed.
