probably moving to Atlanta.
He is moving because he is
scared if we go to war NY will
get bombed... he is not one of
those people who scare easily
but he says there has to be
alike a 1 percent chance and
that may be too much. He
asked me why don't I move
also. WE ARE NOT GAY HE IS
MARRIED AND HAS 3 KIDS and
this is a serious post so
please.....

AS I was saying.... He is my
best friend and we are closer
than brothers. Other than my
brother I have no real family
here. He says he can also
hook me up with a job. Why do
you stay in NYC when there is
a chance that we get
bombed...If youare going to
use the argument... If we move
then they win.... Well if we
don;t and we get bomb

Because if you're talking bombed as in nuclear bombed via I.C.B.M.s and the like, I'm sure you realize that it won't make a difference if you're Atlanta, Atlantic City, or the office of Atlantic-Virgin Records on 45th & B'way.

I, personally, would never dream of moving out of fear of a terrorist attack. But since your friend is, why stop with Atlanta. After all, that's where the C.D.C is located, what better place for terrorist to attack and perhaps unleash all the dangerous viruses they keep secured and on file there.

Wouldn't a smarter plan be to leave the country all together. Or if he really fears the Taliban, well, go the way of John Walker Lynn. What better way to ensure his safety from them than by becoming one of them? And just think of all the money he'll save on razor blades.

I'm being facetious, of course, but the very notion of making such a major move based on what is in essence nothing more than unfounded paronia, makes me think that a terrorist attack isn't his biggest problem.

Anyway, that's why I wouldn't move. You asked if you should move, to which I'll answer that you gotta do what's right for you.

Yes, we do live in a high profile city, and at some point there probably will be some type of attack on us, but to run for the hills because of it just seems like too big a concession.

I disagree with the above opinons. Fear of a terrorist attack in NYC is reasonable and realistic. It is a far more tempting target than smaller, less densely populated cities.

HOWEVER, it's also perfectly reasonable NOT to have these fears or to have them and not be preocupied with the fears. You describe your friend as having these fears, but you don't say that you expereince the same feelings yourself.

The question to ask then is whether you would move to a new city so that you can continue to be with your best friend. There's no right or wrong answer to that. Just recognize, that the reason you choose to stay or go has to do with your friend and not with your own feelings.

Regarding bombing, as in nuclear bombs, of course your location makes a huge difference. A bomb that hits NY will likely not appreciably affect Montanna. NJ and CT however, will be fairly well radiated (depending upon the altitude which the bomb explodes.) While our enemies have some nuclear bombs, they do not have enough to attack the entire country.

The bigger threat is biological weapons and for that, it doesn't make a difference where you are. A person with the hunta virus for example can spread the disease to potentially thousands (or more) people before he even had symptoms. Since people travel all over the country and world, exposure to a biological agent in NY doesn't guarantee your safety in the Swiss Alps.

As a former resident of Atlanta, I can tell you that it fucking sucks. No public transport, no good sports teams anymore and full of Yankee transplants. Oh yeah, and absolutely no one knows how to drive.

And every time you watch the news it will be about how Atlanta is part of some terrorists plans.
