since r+f left the NY airways I have been left to aimlessly roam the radio wilderness without any sign of an oasis...until I stumbled upon the Joe Frank show - 820am Sunday 11pm.
while there is no standard way to convey to u the essence of this beast, since it does not fit into any particular genre, I can say that once u have heard it my friend, there will be no going back to the fat cats'standarized horseshit. Prepare to be blown away. RON FEZ LIVE 4EVER

Joe Frank, Work in
Progress used to be one of
my favorite things on public
radio. He is some sort of
audio performance
artist/poet. Untill recently
there were archived shows
on KCRW s web site, but
they are gone now. His
shows were always
amusing and thaught
provoking in a way seldom
heard on the radio.

Oh, so you are saying he'll be off the air in New York soon and broadcasting in the remote Kentucky mountains?

A lot of joe frank's shows can be found on his website, in streaming realplayer format. It realy is a great show that all radiophiles should check out.

My personal favorite is "Mountain Rain" from the "Somewhere Out There" series. Good stuff.

Yeah! Joe Frank rules. I love
WFMU. Freeform radio is so
refreshing. I listen online all
the time, also to KCRW.

To everyone who said this guy is good, could you reccomend some things in particular? I went to the site and there's a lotta stuff there and I'd like a recommendation on where to start. Earlier or later stuff? Unfortunately I don't have as much time as I'd like to go through it all myself. Thanks for any suggestions
