I remember when I was younger and at the end of the Haunted Mansion ride at WDW scared the crap of me. I thought the Hitchhiking Ghosts were really going to follow me home.

1 - the Steven King BOOK IT (way scarier than the movie)
2 - this odd movie from the 70's about these little "prune head" things living in this air duct in this house - I think they pulled the wife in and killed her (anyone know the name of this?)
3 - that Billy Mumy twilight zone episode where he was the kid with the powers - when the uncle's head popped off it scared the crap out of me
4 - this other freaky 70's movie where this dude was killing people and making wax statues out of them - there was this one scene where he covered the girl's face with plaster and she suffocated as he stood there and talked to her about how the plaster got hot when it dried (anyone remember that one either???)

I still don't like music if it's got a heavy drum-track.

Night of the living dead scared the shit out of me. I was in 1st grade and my brothers took me back in 70-71 it was a double feature with Willard. We had to walk home in the dark past a cemetary. Then I would watch on the late movie on channel 7.
We moved to West Babylon and we had all of those cemetaries on Wellwood avenue. Very scary shit for a kid in elementary school.

Thank you Ron and Fez for finally being live in DC again.
Ok let's get the boys back live in NY. Don't give up the fight.

For me, for some reason the image of the two little girls in The Shining freaked me out for years. I eventually got over it, but as a kid - that image was very disturbing...I mean it's just two girls standing there, but it would always get me.

okay...this is embarassing, but here i go. when i was little i used to have a ton of LEGO's. the usual LEGO man was about 1 inch big with a little yellow head and a blue or black body. but i had one or 2 LEGO men that were about 2 inches big and had a bigger yellow head with this flat black haircut. anyway, me and my 2 brothers used to sleep in the same room. one night i woke up and I swear i saw the door to our room open...a giant sized LEGO man walked across the room, got to the window and opened it up. it turned and looked at me and gave me a little wave and then it disappeared out the window. i was so scared i didn't move an inch until i eventually fell asleep. the weird part was when i woke up the window was open and it wasn't when we went to bed. it all just seemed so real to me and to this day i'm not convinced it didn't happen...though common sense says it didn't. but it scared the shit out of me for a long time and i will never forget what that LEGO figure looked like. now make fun of me.

The babysitter let me watch "Chiller Theatre" at the age of 5, it was "The Werewolf" with Lon Chaney, scared me shitless, had nightmares for years. I would never walk to the side of my bed, I would run and leap the last 3-4 feet because "he" was under there & was gonna git me. Also did not sleep with my feet at the end of the bed, slept curled up in a fetal position at the top of the bed.

Saw the same movie about 6 years ago, and I laughed my ass off because it was sooooo cheesy.

Oh, and to this day I do not go in the water because of "Jaws"

Being left at the babysitter's.

Light switches, water faucets, water spigets (I thought they were HOT; I got burned in the bathtub once!). And my parents had light switchers that lit up like flames.

Oh, and "Jaws."

Movie violence.

As a child, my mom would cover my eyes or turn the TV off whenever something "violent" would happen. Literally, EVERYTHING I watched was censored this way until I was like 6 or so. Being a 3, 4, 5-year-old kid, this got me thinking that I was missing the most horrible, traumatizing stuff, and I assumed that seeing it would drive me insane, to crime, or my eyes would melt.

I finally broke out of this mindset when I was about ten, but man, I was scared of violence in movies until then.

This is an easy one for me to answer. Growing up chased both heaven and hell away like the gossamer of youth's dreams, fancies and fairy tales.

I went to a Catholic grade school, and above the landing on one of the stairwells was an ENORMOUS crucifix. I could never bring myself to look at it dead on, but would glance at it nervously out of the corner of my eye.

I was afraid of my mom. She used to stare at me through the cracks in my bedroom door with an E.T. mask on and make alien sounds...that was SCARY.

Also, when we were in a public bathroom in adjacent stalls, she would reach under and grab my ankles.

I used to be afraid to take baths because my brother told me Jaws lived in the drain.
