1Wrestling is reporting it as well, almost word for word as the post you found Tazz. 1w is no "Scoops" so there is probably some validity to this.

No cause of death at this time.

Damn, he was always the "perfect" Bad guy, and a fave of mine.

My favorite fued ever was him against Bret Hart, culminating in Bret's Summer Slam win at MSG of the IC title that really launched Bret into his singles career.

damn, the IC title is gone too...You forget how much history they erased when they took that belt away.

another one gone too soon.

Dave Meltzer is also reporting it. Three pretty reliable sources.

Curt Hennig was certainly a very talented wrestler, and he entertained me a great number of times over his career. His passing is both shocking and terribly sad. I hope he receives a nice tribute from both the WWE and NWA-TNA. A performer of his stature deserves it.

Another tragic death. It's one of the harsh realities of being a wrestling fan.

WOW!!! My heart just skipped a beat! I haven't been that shocked by a wrestling death since Owen. Holy shit! Godspeed Mr. P, I can't believe he's gone! Though Lawler orginated the gimmick, Henning was the first guy I personally saw take the strap down when he meant business. I'll never forget that roll of dimes breaking across Nick Bockwinkel's head at the Cow Palace in San Francisco to make Henning the AWA champ. He was a hell of an announcer too. Godspeed Curt, we'll miss ya!

Mr. perfect was one of the best. He made me laugh alot how he used to hit the gum out of the air or throw the towel around his back and act like it was a big deal. he was the perfect heel. when he went to WCW he wasnt the same withought his gimmick. Godspeed Mr. Perfect

This does suck!!! Curt Henning was truly one of my favorite wrestlers of all time. I remember when he first started wrestling in the wwf and him fighting the Blue Blazer to see who could stay undefeated. Of course he came out Perfect in the match. Hopefully it wasn't another heart problem due to steriod use.

What a damn shame... Curt Hennig was one of those wrestlers I've always loved to root for (mainly just to piss off other fans when I was younger, but more for his success and skills during his later years). I've followed his career since his tag team title reign with Scott Hall in the AWA, and was always thrilled when he would be on a show I was attending (including the ill-fated MECW and XWF shows of the last couple years).

Rest well, Curt.

Mr. perfect...He made me laugh alot how he used to hit the gum out of the air...

I still use that move today...of course, I occasionally miss and/or the gum winds up on someone's car hood. But now, everytime I do it, I will have a little tear in my eye.

R.I.P., Curt, you will be missed.

They did a "in memory of" still photo in the beginning, and faded to black for a few seconds before starting the show.

With only a few hours, I guess the in memory of was the best they could do. I bet Smackdown will have something a little better and I would not be surprised at all to see a feature of his career in the WWE on COnfidential.

Man, this one hurts!!! Not since Davey Boy Smith has a wrestlers death hit me so hard. But geez, that was not even a year ago. I have always been a huge Curt Hennig fan. When he came back to the WWF as Mr. Perfect in 1988, I was so happy. I followed him in the AWA in the Apter mags before that. In October 1989, I finally got to see him live at MSG where he beat Jimmy Snuka. I remember I was one of the only peaple cheering him. I may have been only 14, but I knew good wrestling when I saw it. Farewell to one of my all time favorites- Mr. Perfect Curt Hennig. Man, what a screwed up business wrestling is.

This brings back what I felt when Kerry
von Erich was found dead. Henning was
a real talent and a real trooper since he
was passed over in favor of freaks like
Warrior and Earthquake and managed to
return after serious back injuries.

I thought Henning gave Tito, Beefcake,
and Kerry great series of matches and
helped to instruct Michaels on how to be
a top heel. He clearly elevated Bret at
SummerSlam 91 and had a good match
with Flair to open Raw. I remember
looking forward to a Jake Snake/Perfect
match on on the syndicated shows for
weeks.

His promos were great as well -- that he
could bowl a strike, hit a homerun, and
nail a three pointer everytime. He could
even throw a football and be in place to
catch it.

RIP Mr. Perfect.

One of my favorite angles of all time. Two of the best ring-psychologists ever, and almost no one was more technically sound than Hennig in those days.

Its a damn shame about Curt.
A very talented wrestler and he knew how to get pop from the crowd!! When I think about it now, there have been so many wrestlers who have died over the past few years its scary.
Davey Boy Smith,Yokozuno,
Big Dick Dudley,Rick Rude,Louie Spicoli...damn the list goes on and on. Very sad.

This does suck and i don't think WWE will give him a tribute b/c they fired him couple months ago, and I think it was a disiplinary action so those assholes probally won't pay homage to this legend

i still can't believe that he's dead. He was in the very first match i ever saw, that being him versus Roddy Piper at Summerslam of 88 or 89 and after watch it i was hooked. He was always one of my favorite wrestlers growing up and he even made the Texas Rednecks storyline in WCW work for me. He was a true talent and I know that i can't imagine a wrestling world without the perfect one.

the best segment ever in the wcw was stasiake trying to break the alltime free throw record and just as he was about to henning came in and messed him up so he couldn't be perfect, a great gimiick to get at his wwf persona...pure genius...he will be missed...

You really are a moron. It was reported He died about 3-3 1/2 hours before raw started. How much more could they do? I bet anything something better is done for Smackdown and chronology of his career or something on Smackdown. Look on the wwe website jackass. They have a tribute to him there.

I'm glad they did that video tribute on Raw. It reminded me of how great Curt really was. I was laughing, but it was still emotional. RIP Curt.

BTW, that was my high school gym that he did the first basketball scenes in (with the green and gold pads on the wall).

You are right when you meant it should be on Raw or Smackdown instead of a show on Saturday evening/late-night.
