With all due respect to the
people who started the
campaign and wrote the
letters.But aiming it at this
guy John Syckes might have
been a mistake.Instead, and in
the future it should have been
aimed at Mr Mel karmazan
instead.Why? Because Syckes is
in charge of the radio branch
of viacom, and Karmazan lets
him do what he wants as long
as it works-key phrase
here.Well Syckes background is
from MTV, and it shows in the
brand music being played right
now. Hopefully, when karmazan
catches on(He has been very
distracted lately with his
partner Sumner redstone) to
the fiasco Syckes let happen
at WNEW, the music format will
change.And that is our chance
to bring back our buddies,
RnF, OnA and whomever might
help the team.So in the future
maybe letters should go
directly to Mel Karmazan,and
not Syckes whose agenda it
seems to turn everything into
MTV land.This has be

Not a bad idea at all, but Stern has his head so far up Mel's ass it's disgusting. Probably wouldnt work, but worth a shot of course.

Mel has to have a window in his stomach so Howard can see where he's going.

Mel has to have a window in his stomach so Howard can see where he's going.
Or since Howard's so damn tall, he walks upright giving Mel a piggyback ride. His little legs are just dangling away

It's all just speculation, whether it be from the New York Radio Board or someone acting "inside".
I do know that Mel knows how to make money with radio, and I'm sure he's not happy with WNEW. His track record is good and he, along with Stern, made Infinity what it is today. Love or hate Howard, he makes money.
Who knows? If the new WNEW bombs Sykes will get thrown out on his ass. I think we created a "buzz" in the boardrooms of Infinity with our campaign, how can they ignore calls, letters, postcards and petitions(and a plane!)? At worst, we did what we did and showed the love for R&F. Best case scenario, and it's a longshot: some Infinity station picks them up in the near future. You never know.

Where the letter writing might have gone wrong...
I thought you were going to say we had the wrong zip code, that would have been quite the pickle.

After we are done here can someone come over and help me beat a dead horse. He just won't move.
Conducting a post-mortem now is stupid. EVERYONE did the best they could and tried hard. The campaign didn't work. If you want to point fingers look at waht YOU could have done and not pawn off your guilt on those that busted their asses... Just my humble opinion

wrong attitude- the horse isn`t dead yet. This is a long process. Now is the time to step up the letters and phone calls. You don`t realize it but we have their attention. Now it`s up to us to make an impression

Enough pessimism. This agitating for R and F's reinstatement can work. It just has to be relentless. It can't trickle down to a whimper, it has to be a constant yelling in their ears. We want them back. Postcards everyday, letters once a week. Calls as often as people can make them. Also, could we suggest to JFK that we need instant feedback installed for during the show. Perhaps a DC person could start that campaign to not let on about NY listeners having such powerful radios. This way we can at least instant feedback them, to let R and F know we are listening, boost their morale, and raise the bar for DC callers too. Do not give up on the letter writing campaign. There have been TV broadcasts that have been cancelled and relentless letter writing has gotten those programs back on the air. We can do this.

A couple of R&F fans rented a plane with a "Save Ron and Fez in NYC" banner to fly over Manhattan. I think it was near the Hudson or something. Not sure though. I only saw the picture of the plane on the opening page when it happened.
