If you were sleeping upstairs and awoke to realize there is an intruder downstairs, how do you think you would react?

frankly, this scares the shit out of me but being I have two daughters I would send my wife out first :)

just kidding!

I keep a bat under the bed and I'm not sure if i should wait in the dark and try to whack him by suprise or just go downstairs and take my swings...

what would you do?

Now that you just announced you have two daughters, expect many chances to find out how you would react.

i read a case about this in school... there was this couple whose second home was constantly being robbed because they had some expensive antiques there or something. so, they decided to set up a spring gun. there was an intruder, he set off the spring gun, and was shot. the court said that the couple weren't legally allowed to set up a trap like this to protect against intruders. i wasn't really sure how i felt about that. i mean, these people were unlawfully breaking into someone's home for the purpose of stealing their shit... how badly should we feel? i think i'd probably be too scared to confront an intruder willingly. but, if i had to, i'd probably try to kill the bastard.

First thing I would do is put on my bulletproof vest. Then, i'd calmly walk downstairs and go put in some work.

when i was 6 years old my house was broken into. it was during summer vacation so i was home with my 13 yr old sis, and 11 yr old bro. my sis and i woke up early and met up in my parents room. (at the time it was the only room with air conditioning) we just lied in bed and watched TV. later on...... my brother woke up and he heard some noises downstairs. so he called out "Mom!!! Dad!!!" the only response he heard were ppl running. he then burst into my parents room and told us what happened. luckily our next door neighbor at the time was a cop. we called my parents and they called our neighbor. nothing was taken but they never caught the people who broke into the house.

even scarier............ my house was broken into again when i was 11. this time it was a couple of weeks before mother's day that year. also they cleaned my house out. all of my moms jewelry was stolen, and a couple of other things. but the jewelry was irreplaceable.

Funny you should mention this. About 15 years ago, I came home from work and surprised a butglar ransacking my apartment. Needless to say, he was unpleasantly surprised and I got some overtime that night!!!

I believe a loaded gun would be the best weapon to have but i have too much fear that my daughters or one of thier friends will be curious one day, or find it by accident, and a serious accident would occur...

It's hard to divide having a loaded gun that's easily accessible, and creating a dangerous enviornment for the innocent...

Guns are for pussies.

I'd happily enjoy kicking the shit out of said intruder, and then do it all over again after I took a break for some milk and cookies. That's right, Santa's home, and he's delivering PAIN.
