Im using my girl's account to post.
Anyway, I have to agree with others in the threads about Howard. I thought I'd never see the day I would admit, he really lost the steam. I remember when I used to LAUGH at the stuff on Howard. Now, a giggle here, a giggle there. I first got on the wagon back in '87 when he was talking about Micheal Jackson's facial surgery. I fell out LAUGHING. I left the country, came back in '89 and HAD to find Howard again. My present job I drive a bus, and I used to work the morning shift and couldnt wait to get my earpiece in a 6 am and hear Howard. I used to have to laugh into my hands while driving so the passengers didnt think I was nuts. So much funny stuff going on until sometimes 11 am. After the hype about his Channel 9 show, the books, the movie, then the divorce...I wasnt LAUGHING anymore. It just wasnt happening. I changed bus shifts and work later in the day now. And when do I listen to Howard? When he comes on at 6am so I can FALL ASLEEP, to get rested for work. That is how bad it has gotten. I agree with another poster that said he only listens to when the news comes on Howard, because that is when he gets FUNNY again. Little comments, the sound effects in response to some wacky news from around the world...thats when I fall out laughing again. (I must say when Howard plays that sound effect of the dog howling when someone is singing still makes my stomach hurt from laughter) All the other stuff in between the 7 am hour and newstime....nothing there. I like when they talk amongst each other in the first hour to get a feel of what THEY do in their lives...they should shorten the show to 2 hours, opening then news and sign off. I tried to hang in there, but sorry Howard...you lost a true listener.....

Now, when I finally get a good taste of O & A for about a year, now THEY are gone. I followed Ron & Fez from when they did 10 - 2 before O & A and I must say I LAUGHED all the way until 7 pm. Then Ron & Fez moved to evenings, and my day was set from 3pm - 11pm. It made my day wonderful, hearing both shows and the laughter, jokes, rants, callers, all that! And dammit now it's ALL gone! What was WNEW thinking? Ok, O & A screwed up. Pass the torch onto Ron & Fez. They DO have a following of listeners!!! But its too late now. Anyway, Big thanks to the guy doing the you-know-whats so I can still hear Ron and Fez. And thank you to the whole board for listening...(reading). Peace..

Ana this is the post I always wanted to make regarding Howard. I dont know I kind of got annoyed when he dumped Jackie, I thought them making fun of Jackie was a hoot...but hey what the hell do I know.

O and A were the show I loved once I got out of school in May of 1999. I actually started listening to them by accident in 1998 when I was home on summer vacation due to headset when I would run.

Due to O and A getting bigger and bigger and me shifting around hours t hear them without interference, I knew there was a new good thing. O and A just got better and better since that time and WNEW goes all talk. I listen to em all and even hear the infamous O and A Leykis fight on Leykis' show (Yes I gave that douche a try at one time, and just for reference that was around the time of Hurricane Floyd). Eventually WNEW goes through change of management and we get the star-crossed duo of Ken Stevens and Jeremy Coleman who enter the Sports Guys and Ron and Fez.

Well Ron and Fez I was instantly hooked from day one especially when Anthony appeared in very first show. But Ron and Fez were unique in their own way, different from O and A, yet worked well with em. I liked that. Whether it was genuine or not (I am betting on the former), they worked well together and like you said the station is asses. But Infinity made their decision and notice they lifted the "dont talk" ban when O and A were fired. So now Howard could bash without reprisals from O and A. Howard proved what a coward he is, and I cant wait for the return of O and A. I only hope that Ron and Fez follow em, and that would be great....but all we have people is nostalgia. Lets remember the good times for what they are. Good times...

Amazing. He's not miserable anymore and you people can't relate. He doesn't share the same frustrations so now he has "lost it". He is in a different point in his life.

Howard lost something....it's very simple...his wife and guilt to cheat. So since that happened, he has carte blanche to bang any and every hot chick in Hollywood. That would cheer any man up. And would be enough for any man to lose their edge.

I haven't listened to Howard in years. His show does remain funny to the quality of guests he gets, yet it is just the same recycled crap over and over. Shows like O and A and Ron and Fez were fresh brands of humor and different types of shows.

Howard simply turned into the Imus, he hated when getting started in the business, that wouldn't share the spotlight or give recognition to the new act on the block.

brands of humor

Norton would have an Aneurism.

The only things that can bring him back would be a great movie, Billy West, another channel 9 style show, Jackie

I liked the channel 9 show too. It was done on no budget but that forced them to improvise.

Howard missed an absolute golden opportunity with the Saturday night syndicated show. It was on all the CBS owned and operated stations, plus other stations, and it was up against a tired SNL. For years he was whining that this is what he wanted, and he did NOTHING with it. It was a retread of the E! show, which is a retread of the radio show.

The show was never the same after Billy West left. And then Jackie. It's over Johnny, it's over!

His movie did poorly. And it had A-list producers, movie studio and promotion. He should have started off with Fart Man and gone to the romantic love story later. He could probably build up the movie career but I doubt his ego would allow him to do small roles.

Once he started making the big money, the fire in the belly went out. I wish he would just quietly go away. He's been using the "I'm getting out of here as soon as my contract is up" line for 20 years now. He's doing the least amount of work possible now, I'd hate to see what the show will be like in 5 years.

Howard has gone downhill. So were O&A before they totally fucked up. Just because Howard sucks now, don't pretend O&A were some comedy legends. They were at their best when they were doing Big Noses late eighties material.

I didn't see anything, I didn't hear anything, I wasn't there and if I was there I was asleep.

Howard simply turned into the Imus

I wrote the likes of this statement in many a threads and it's so true. Watch the fucking movie and try to compare the situations. As for the lift on the on air talk of rivals, it sure does scream pussy, again. He had a ton to do with the WNEW situation, when he could have revitalized his own career.

Imagine the likes of Howard in the morning, O/A in the afternoons and R/F at night. Instead of letting those who come next pay homage and respect with their shows, they all "copy him" and the network of "stern impersonaters". Do you really think he came up with the idea to be crude! Fuck, my grandfather is 75 and has been that way for his whole life. Stern just got the break that allowed him to exploit it. Inside, he's probably just a dork acting out of fear, which is different from the in your face style of O/A and the true comedic genius that is Ron and Fez.

Stern could have designed a whole station with his influence, but his ego took him to a corner of creativity and ignorance. His insecurity was and is so fierce that he couldn't even handle competition from his own understudies (which they would be billed as) or colleagues.

Bottom line people:

Stop listening to Stern. He is what he hated most when he was real. I hope we loose him most of all.
